Role
The Delivery Director, UK & Europe is a senior, customer-adjacent leadership role responsible for the successful delivery of complex software programmes for 10Pearls customers across the UK and Europe. Based in London, the role works closely with customers, commercial leaders and global delivery teams to turn commitments into high-quality, predictable outcomes. The Delivery Director combines programme management, stakeholder leadership, commercial judgement and technical understanding, and acts as a senior escalation point for delivery risks, incidents and customer concerns.
Responsibilities
- Own the successful delivery, operational health and commercial performance of a portfolio of UK and European customer engagements.
- Lead complex software programmes across multiple workstreams, technologies, teams and locations, ensuring clear accountability for scope, milestones, quality, budget and outcomes.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with executive sponsors, product leaders, technology stakeholders and other senior customer contacts.
- Provide clear, concise and credible programme communication, including visibility of progress, risks, dependencies, decisions, financials and required actions.
- Lead steering committees, programme reviews and difficult delivery conversations with clarity, confidence and sound judgement.
- Establish proportionate programme governance, delivery plans, operating rhythms, reporting and controls appropriate to each customer and engagement.
- Drive delivery predictability using appropriate agile, hybrid or scaled delivery methods, while balancing speed, quality, technical debt and customer expectations.
- Work closely with offshore and nearshore engineering, product, design, data, quality and DevOps teams to maintain alignment and remove delivery blockers.
- Create effective ways of working across time zones, ensuring global teams have the context, decisions, access and ownership required to deliver successfully.
- Lead the resolution of major programme issues, customer escalations and customer-impacting incidents, bringing together the appropriate technical and business stakeholders.
- Establish clear incident leadership, communications, recovery plans and decision-making, followed by root-cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
- Identify and manage programme risks, dependencies and delivery constraints early, escalating at the appropriate level and protecting customer confidence.
- Work with sales, account and solution teams to ensure proposals, statements of work and delivery commitments are realistic, well structured and commercially sound.
- Monitor programme financial performance, including budgets, margins, utilisation, resourcing and the commercial impact of scope changes.
- Identify opportunities to deepen customer relationships and expand 10Pearls’ impact through additional services, capabilities and follow-on programmes.
- Support, coach and develop Delivery Managers, Programme Managers, Project Managers and Engagement Leads.
- Promote a culture of customer focus, accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and delivery excellence.
- Champion modern software delivery practices, including automation, DevOps and responsible use of AI-enabled tools where these improve delivery performance and customer outcomes.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software delivery, programme management, engineering, product or technology consulting roles, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
- Proven experience leading complex, customer-facing software programmes across multiple teams, workstreams and geographies.
- Strong programme management capability, including planning, governance, risk and dependency management, change control, financial oversight and delivery reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence senior customer stakeholders and translate between commercial and technical audiences.
- Demonstrable experience working successfully with offshore, nearshore or globally distributed technology teams.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation and expectation-setting skills, including in challenging, high-pressure or ambiguous situations.
- Proven ability to lead major delivery issues, escalations and customer-impacting incidents through to resolution.
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience with statements of work, scope and change control, budgets, margins, resource planning and account growth.
- Sufficient technical fluency to engage credibly with engineering leaders, understand architecture and delivery trade-offs, challenge assumptions and support informed decisions.
- Practical knowledge of agile software delivery, engineering practices and programme governance, with the judgement to adapt methods to the needs of the customer and programme.
- Experience managing customer relationships and delivery in the UK and/or Europe, ideally within a software consultancy, digital transformation partner, systems integrator or product engineering services business.
- A proactive, calm and accountable leadership style, with a bias for early intervention, transparent communication and clear action.
- Based in or able to work regularly from London, with the right to work in the UK and willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as customer and programme needs require.
Preferred Experience
- Experience delivering cloud, data, AI, digital product, platform modernisation, cybersecurity or enterprise software programmes.
- Experience supporting pre-sales, solution shaping, commercial negotiation, bids or strategic account development.
- Experience working with enterprise or regulated-sector customers in the UK or Europe.
- Recognised programme, project or agile delivery qualifications, although practical delivery leadership is more important than certification.
