About the Program

KORAKORA, Kiribati

Help advance inclusive, locally led and climate-resilient development across Kiribati’s outer islands.

KORAKORA is Australia’s flagship climate-resilient rural development investment in Kiribati. The program supports locally led improvements in water, food and energy security and climate resilience through grant-making, early works and broader implementation investments.

About the role

As the Inclusion and Resilience Adviser, you will help integrate DFAT’s cross-cutting priorities into program design, grants, early works and monitoring systems. You will develop KORAKORA’s Cross-Cutting Strategy, strengthen monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) systems, and build staff and partner capacity to apply inclusive, locally led and climate-resilient approaches.

What you will do

  • Develop the Cross-Cutting Strategy in Year 1.
  • Review program documentation and consult key stakeholders to bring together GEDSI, Climate and Disaster Resilience, Localisation and Sustainability, and First Nations and Indigenous Participation.
  • Finalise the strategy following DFAT feedback and prepare a partner-friendly summary.
  • Strengthen MEL systems. Review the MEL Plan against the strategy, recommend indicators, disaggregation and data collection approaches, and support practical monitoring, learning and reporting.
  • Support grants and program delivery. Review grants and early works processes to embed inclusion, resilience and localisation, and develop or improve practical guidance and screening tools.
  • Build capacity and support learning. Deliver training and mentoring for staff and partners, contribute to annual planning, reporting and program reviews, and provide technical advice as required.

What you will bring

The role requires a relevant postgraduate qualification and at least 10 years’ experience advising on GEDSI and cross-cutting development issues, including 5 years in the Pacific. Essential skills include developing DFAT strategies, applying Design and MEL Standards, integrating climate resilience into community programs, designing disaggregated monitoring tools, and facilitating cross-cultural training. Experience in Kiribati or other atoll nations, small grants, Pacific localisation, and relevant DFAT policies and CRC co-funding criteria is desirable

Please note: While this role does not involve direct work with children, the successful candidate will still be required to complete a police check and relevant due diligence checks as part of Palladium’s commitment to being a child-safe organisation.
