- Structure complex behaviour into functions, interfaces, modes,

- Define interactions between distributed processors, avionics

- Use behavioural and interface models to test assumptions and

- Maintain traceability from system requirements to software
- architecture and verification
- Bring the relevant disciplines together to resolve unclear,
- conflicting or changing requirements
- Support the refinement of the Requirements Baseline into
- detailed software specifications
