About the Job
Join the BI&Data Architecture team of Allianz Technology Iberolatam, which supports the Allianz Data Platform (ADP) across several Operating Entities. You will combine architecture ownership with hands-on engineering.
You will lead technology migrations (towards Databricks and Microsoft Fabric) and build reusable data products. You will do this as an AI-augmented professional, using AI-driven development lifecycles and spec-driven approaches to deliver faster and with higher quality.
What you do
Define and maintain the target data architecture of the platform (ingestion, Data Vault, consumption layers), ensuring solutions are portable across Synapse, Databricks and Fabric, based on open formats such as Delta Lake.
Lead and execute technology migrations between data platforms and engines. This includes assessing the current state, designing the target, defining the migration approach, and validating data parity.
Design, build and publish data products with clear ownership, data contracts, quality rules, documentation and SLAs, ready for consumption by business and analytics teams.
Develop data pipelines and transformations with dbt, PySpark and T-SQL on Azure Synapse (Spark Pools and Dedicated SQL Pools) and Databricks, applying Git-based CI/CD practices.
Apply AI-assisted development across the delivery lifecycle (AI-SDLC): specification, design, coding, testing, documentation and code review. Use spec-driven development (SDD) frameworks so that specifications act as the source of truth for AI-generated work.
Review and validate deliveries from external providers (code quality, data contracts, DDL, performance and security) and decide whether they are ready for production.
Drive FinOps practices (monitoring and optimizing’s consumption), and advise Operating Entities on architecture, naming, security and data governance (access control, PII masking, data contracts).
What you bring
Solid hands-on experience with Azure data services, especially Azure Synapse Analytics (Spark Pools, Dedicated SQL Pools, pipelines) and Azure Data Lake Storage.
Strong data engineering skills in SQL (T-SQL) and Python/PySpark, plus experience with dbt and Git-based CI/CD (GitHub, pull requests, automated testing).
Experience in data architecture and modelling (Data Vault 2.0, dimensional modelling, lakehouse patterns on Delta Lake) and in delivering data products and platform migrations.
Working knowledge of Databricks (Unity Catalog, workflows, cost model); knowledge of the Microsoft Fabric ecosystem (OneLake, Lakehouse, Direct Lake) and of FinOps principles is a strong plus.
Proven practical use of AI technologies in day-to-day work, with knowledge of AI-SDLC and of spec-driven development (SDD) frameworks (e.g. GitHub Spec Kit, or similar) and AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot). You know how to prompt, supervise and validate AI output critically.
5+ years in data engineering and/or data architecture roles, with at least 2 years designing solutions on Azure. Experience working in agile teams (Scrum/Kanban), with hands-on use of Jira to manage epics, user stories, sprints and backlogs.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software or Data Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
Familiarity with Machine learning is a strong advantage.
