The Opportunity
Alpha Inc. isn’t looking for a traditional CRO.
We’re looking for a construction growth executive who knows how to find the right work, price the right work, win the right work — and walk away from the wrong work.
This is not a desk-bound sales executive position. And it’s definitely not about filling a CRM with opportunities that never turn into revenue.
As Chief Revenue Officer, you’ll own Alpha’s enterprise-wide revenue engine across our construction, concrete, energy, and related business lines. You’ll bring Business Development, Sales, Estimating, Marketing, Operations, and Client Strategy together around one objective: Profitable, sustainable growth.
The existing CRO role calls for an executive who owns the full revenue lifecycle, aligns sales, estimating, marketing and operations, and drives both revenue and margin performance. Chief Revenue Officer
We want someone who understands construction because they’ve lived it. Someone who can sit with an estimating team and challenge an assumption, walk a project with operations, develop relationships with sophisticated contractors and owners, negotiate a major contract, and recognize a great opportunity before everyone else sees it.
You’ll be expected to know the numbers.
But you’ll also be expected to know the people, projects, contractors, relationships, and market behind those numbers.
And there’s one more important piece
This role is based on Maui. If you’re not already here, you must be willing to relocate, put down roots, build relationships, and become part of the community Alpha calls home.
About Alpha Inc.
Founded in Hawai?i in 2007, Alpha Inc. has grown from a single piece of equipment into a full-service civil construction company serving communities across the Hawaiian Islands. Today, Alpha specializes in heavy civil construction, water well drilling, underground utilities, concrete construction, vertical and renewable energy solutions for public- and private-sector clients
We aren't interested in growth for growth's sake. We're building an organization capable of making a lasting impact on Hawai?i's infrastructure and communities.
Our culture is grounded in three core values
- Leading with Heart — Lead with humility, respect, and a genuine commitment to people.
- Strength in Unity — One team. Different strengths. Shared mission.
- Alpha Mentality — Own it. Solve it. Push forward. Deliver.
- These aren't words for the wall. They're expectations for how this CRO will lead. Alpha publicly identifies these three principles as the core of its team and culture.
What You’ll Own
- Build the Revenue Strategy
- Architect and own Alpha's enterprise-wide revenue growth strategy.
- Translate Alpha's long-term vision into a disciplined plan for markets, clients, pursuits, revenue, backlog, and margin growth.
- Identify where Alpha should play, where we can win, and where we shouldn't waste our time.
- Set ambitious but achievable revenue and margin targets — and build the systems and accountability necessary to hit them.
Own Business Development & Sales
- Build a business development machine that creates opportunities before the RFP hits the street.
- Develop and deepen relationships with owners, developers, general contractors, federal contractors, agencies, engineers, consultants, strategic partners, and other decision-makers.
- Personally engage in high-value pursuits, strategic accounts, negotiations, and major opportunities.
- Create a disciplined pipeline that distinguishes real opportunities from wishful thinking.
- And build repeatable processes that turn relationships into profitable backlog.
Lead Estimating
- Estimating sits at the heart of this role.
- You'll oversee and develop Alpha's estimating function and ensure our estimators have the leadership, discipline, information, tools, and accountability necessary to produce competitive and commercially sound work.
- Challenge estimates.
- Pressure-test assumptions.
- Evaluate risk.
- Improve bid strategy.
- Drive disciplined go/no-go decisions.
- Partner with Operations before the commitment is made — not after the project has been won.
- Because revenue isn't a win if the work can't make money.
Expand Alpha’s Federal Contractor Network
- Bring meaningful knowledge of the federal construction and contracting ecosystem.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with federal prime contractors, teaming partners, subcontractors, agencies, and other strategic players.
- Identify opportunities where Alpha's capabilities, equipment, local knowledge, workforce, and construction expertise create a compelling advantage.
- We want someone who doesn't simply understand federal work from a distance.
- We want someone who knows how relationships become opportunities and opportunities become contracts.
- Connect Revenue to Operations
- Bring Sales, Estimating, Marketing, Finance, and Operations together around one commercial strategy.
- Ensure the promises made during pursuit can actually be delivered in the field.
- Build stronger handoffs from opportunity ? estimate ? proposal ? contract ? execution ? client success ? repeat business.
- Create feedback loops so lessons learned in operations make Alpha smarter on the next pursuit.
Own Revenue Performance
Establish and manage meaningful executive-level KPIs, including
- Revenue and profitable backlog
- Pipeline quality and velocity
- Bid and proposal activity
- Hit rate
- Gross margin
- Forecast accuracy
- Strategic account growth
- Customer retention and expansion
- Estimating performance
- Federal and public-sector opportunity development
- Know where the business stands.
- Know why.
- And know what you're going to do about it.
- Build an A-Player Revenue Team
- Recruit, coach, develop, and retain high-performing talent across the revenue organization.
- Set clear expectations.
- Create measurable scorecards.
- Develop leaders.
- Address underperformance.
- Reward results.
- Build a culture where accountability and Leading with Heart aren't competing ideas.
- They're how great teams operate.
What You Bring
This isn't a role for a career sales executive who happens to have sold into construction.
We want a construction executive who knows how to sell, lead, estimate, negotiate, and grow.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in revenue, business development, estimating, preconstruction, construction, infrastructure, or related industries.
- 5+ years operating at a senior or executive leadership level.
- Significant construction industry experience with a working understanding of estimating, project delivery, contracts, pricing, schedules, risk, subcontractors, margins, and operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing estimators and/or preconstruction teams.
- Proven track record of originating, pursuing, negotiating, and winning significant construction or infrastructure opportunities.
- Experience developing business with federal contractors and within government/public-sector construction environments strongly preferred.
- Established construction-industry relationships in Hawai?i are highly valued.
Commercial Firepower
- You understand that revenue and profitability aren't the same thing.
- You're comfortable evaluating pricing strategy, contracts, margins, project risk, competitive positioning, and resource requirements.
- You know when to push.
- You know when to negotiate.
- And you know when the smartest deal is the one Alpha doesn't take.
Executive Leadership
- You can move from a CEO strategy conversation to an estimating review to a client meeting to a jobsite — and add value in every room.
- You're decisive without being reckless.
- Competitive without creating politics.
- Analytical without hiding behind spreadsheets.
- Demanding without forgetting the human being on the other side of the conversation.
- You develop people, build trust, communicate clearly, and hold yourself to the same standards you expect from everyone else.
- Maui Is Part of the Job
- Alpha was founded and built in Hawai?i, has deep roots on Maui, and maintains its headquarters in Kahului.
So we're looking for someone who understands something important
You don't build relationships in Hawai?i from a distance.
This position is based on Maui and requires statewide travel as business needs dictate.
Candidates who already understand Hawai?i's construction market, business environment, and relationship-driven culture are strongly encouraged to apply.
Exceptional candidates currently outside Maui must be willing to relocate to Maui and establish their primary work location here.
We're looking for someone who wants to become part of the community — not simply work from it.
Why Alpha?
Alpha started with one piece of equipment and has grown into a multidisciplinary Hawai?i contractor serving communities across the state. The company continues to invest in construction technology, equipment, training, renewable energy, and the people behind the work.
The opportunity for this CRO is bigger than hitting next quarter's sales target.
You'll help determine what Alpha builds, who we build it with, where we grow, and what this company becomes next.
If you're looking for comfortable, predictable, and corporate — this probably isn't it.
If you're looking for ownership, challenge, impact, and the chance to build something that matters in Hawai?i, keep reading.
