At Aon, we shape decisions for the better to protect and enrich the lives of people around the world. As an organisation, we are united through trust as one inclusive, diverse team, and we are passionate about helping our colleagues and clients succeed.
Launch Your Career in Strategic Consulting
Aon is looking for penultimate-year students to join our Strategic Consulting Summer Internship Programme. Support colleagues as they help clients navigate an evolving market and address complex strategic questions. You will contribute to research, analysis and team discussions while developing an understanding of how evidence-based insights inform client recommendations.
Strategy Consulting, part of Aon’s Strategy and Technology Group (STG), works with (re)insurers, private equity firms, and other entities interested in the (re)insurance sector to deliver advice and strategic insights to senior leaders within the industry’s most prestigious companies.
With our singular industry focus, privileged access to Aon’s proprietary data and its global network of (re)insurance industry experts, Strategy Consulting offers clients unparalleled access to unique and compelling insights unlike any other consultancy.
As a Strategic Consulting Intern, you’ll become part of an expert team working on fast-paced, complex projects. With guidance from colleagues, you will contribute to research, analysis and the preparation of client deliverables. Learning and development are central to the experience, with tailored training in core consulting skills and (re)insurance industry knowledge. As your experience grows, you will develop your ability to translate business context into relevant insights, coordinate digital tools and internal resources, and identify opportunities to improve delivery workflows.
What You Will Do
- Supporting strategic consulting projects by working with colleagues to research market and client questions, test hypotheses and develop evidence-based recommendations.
- Analysing financial and other data to identify patterns and insights, with exposure over time to benchmarking, regression and other advanced analytical techniques.
- Contributing to clear, accurate client deliverables including presentations, reports and proposals, while helping the team organise project activity and review supporting documents.
- Using AI-enabled and digital tools responsibly to support research, analysis and delivery, refining outputs and applying relevant business context and human judgement.
Your Development
As an Aon Summer Intern, you will be enrolled onto our award-winning development programme. For 9 weeks you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of insightful and interactive training and development activities in addition to your role. Here are the key elements of our 9-week Internship development programme:
Induction. A great way for you to learn about Aon and our Story, meet and network with your fellow interns and Aon colleagues from across our business including senior leaders; technical and business training to equip you with skills and knowledge to help you in your role
Aon Business focused project. Our interns are given a project to complete during the programme. You and your team of fellow interns will be tasked to research and help to find solutions for a real business challenge. At the end of the internship, you will have the chance to present your findings to a panel of Aon colleagues
Feedback. When you start as an intern at Aon, you will have time with your line manager to discuss your goals and throughout your internship you will receive feedback and support
Your career beyond your Summer Internship
Our summer internship programme is designed as a potential first step towards a long-term career with us. Your performance during your internship may lead to an offer for a place on our graduate programme in the same business unit the following year. We encourage you to apply for an internship that aligns with your long-term interests and career ambitions. By choosing a role that matches your aspirations, you’ll be better positioned to take full advantage of our Launch development programme, which offers comprehensive support for your professional qualification, a level 4 Diploma in Insurance from the CII (Chartered Insurance Institute), and ongoing career growth.

If you join us as a graduate after your internship, you will spend the first 6 months based in the office to support your learning, development, and progression. Aon UK Internship Recruitment: What to Expect
We know applying for your first role can be exciting, and sometimes a little daunting. At Aon, we’re committed to making our recruitment process as transparent and supportive as possible. Here’s how our selection journey works, and what you can expect at each stage:
- Application Review
- We process applications on a rolling basis, moving candidates forward as they complete each stage.
- Every application is carefully reviewed by our team (not by AI).
- Due to the high volume of interest, this stage can take up to two weeks.
- Please note: We do not review CVs or cover letters at this point.
- Online Assessment
We understand you want to put your best foot forward, so you’ll have 5 calendar days to complete the online assessment.
If you need more time, just let us know as extensions are available.
- Video Interview
- Preparation matters, so you’ll have up to 10 days (240 hours) from receiving your invitation to record and submit your video interview.
- Rest assured: Every video interview is reviewed by a real member of our recruitment team, not an AI system.
- You’ll typically hear back from us within 2-3 weeks after submitting your interview, though times may vary depending on the number of applications.
- Assessment Centres
Our assessment centres are held in person at the Aon office closest to the location you applied for.
Please note: Due to the large number of applications, not every candidate who completes a video interview will be invited to an assessment centre.
Assessment centres usually run after Christmas, from mid-January.
If selected, you’ll have 7-14 days’ notice to help you arrange any travel.
We run a limited number of Assessment Centre so please make every effort to attend if invited.
We reimburse reasonable travel costs (such as standard class train tickets). Flights and hotels are only covered if agreed in advance.
At the assessment centre stage, your CV and cover letter will be shared with hiring managers. This helps them get a fuller picture of you as a candidate—but these documents are not used for initial screening.
What is Aon's guidance of the use of AI during the selection process?
As an innovative global leader, we recognize and embrace the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help job seekers be more efficient in their recruitment processes. In fact, Aon is in the business of developing and implementing innovative AI tools that support both colleagues and clients, which you’ll use as an Aon colleague if you join our team.
AI can be a helpful tool for researching Aon, preparing for interviews or refining your CV, it should support, not replace, your own thinking, judgement, skills and experiences. Any application materials you submit should accurately reflect your achievements, capabilities and potential.
We ask that you refrain from using AI when completing assessments or during live or pre-recorded interview processes, which will often include an in-person interview where the technology will not be available to you. Additionally, virtual or in-person interviews should not be recorded or transcribed.
At Aon, we foster a culture of inclusiveness, fairness and transparency. We expect all candidates to embrace these principles in every interaction with us.
Can I apply for more than one programme or role?
We ask candidates to submit one Early Carers application per recruitment cycle. We encourage you to explore our opportunities carefully and apply for the programme or role that best matches your skills, interests and career goals. This helps you focus on submitting your strongest application and ensures we can assess candidates fairly and efficiently.
If, during the selection process, we believe another opportunity at Aon may be a better fit for your experience and aspirations, our recruitment team may discuss alternative options with you.
If you're unsure which programme is right for you, we recommend reviewing the programme information on our careers site or attending one of our events before applying.
Top Tip: Choose the role you're most excited about, rather than treating a second application as a back-up option. We want to understand where your genuine interests lie and how you see your future career developing.
We’re here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or need accommodations, just contact our team - [email protected]. Good luck, and we look forward to seeing what you can bring to Aon!
