Retail and Marcom Engineering, an IS&T team, builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple's products with its customers. The team owns the technology behind both Apple's online and physical stores and drives the interactive marketing experiences and tools that keep creative operations moving. Together, those functions deliver the technology behind every product story Apple tells and every purchase a customer makes.

As an SDET on the Retail Engineering (AOS & ASA) Quality Engineering team, you will design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites to validate web, mobile, and backend functionalities across our eCommerce platform. You will collaborate closely with software engineers and product managers to define test strategies, verify system testability, and execute comprehensive test plans. By driving test automation best practices across both UI and API layers and delivering actionable quality metrics, you will champion platform reliability across all phases of the software release lifecycle.

Design, develop, and maintain automated test frameworks and test suites using Java-based technologies (JUnit, TestNG) to validate web, mobile, and backend eCommerce services across AOS and ASA.

• Design, implement, and maintain UI automation test frameworks and test suites for web and mobile platforms using Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or equivalent tools.
• Execute API testing using REST Assured and related tools to verify data integrity and backend service functionality.
• Partner with software engineers and product managers to analyze requirements, map software workflows, and guarantee system testability.
• Develop, implement, and execute comprehensive test plans and test cases to maximize coverage across continuous integration pipelines.
• Define test automation requirements and architect solutions that streamline testing processes and shorten release cycles.
• Communicate testing status, risk assessments, and quality metrics to cross-functional stakeholders throughout project lifecycles.
• Advocate for software testing best practices and modern engineering methodologies across the organization to elevate overall product quality.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or equivalent field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on programming and coding experience, with demonstrated strong proficiency in Java.
• Proven hands-on experience building and maintaining UI automation frameworks (such as Selenium, Playwright, Appium, or equivalent) for web and/or mobile applications.
• Professional fluency in English (written and verbal), with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts and collaborate effectively with global cross-functional engineering teams.
• Solid knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), testing methodologies, and QA best practices.
• Track record of delivering test automation as an SDET or similar role, with a focus on testing eCommerce platforms or large-scale distributed web and mobile applications (such as AOS / ASA ecosystem).
• Experience designing and implementing test automation frameworks using JUnit, TestNG, or equivalent frameworks in Java etc.
• Demonstrated experience architecting end-to-end test automation solutions covering both frontend UI (Playwright, Selenium, Appium) and backend REST APIs.
• Demonstrated expertise in API testing and backend validation using tools such as REST Assured.
• Solid understanding of core web and mobile technologies and networking protocols, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
