Apple Technology/Software

Director of Engineering Program Management, Retail Engineering

Sunnyvale, CA In person Full-time

As a leader within Apple's Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) organization, you will play a significant role in shaping the technology that runs Apple's global operations — across enterprise and customer systems, server and data infrastructure, retail and sales software, G&A corporate solutions, AI & Data Platforms, and infrastructure and cybersecurity services. You'll help drive the programs that keep Apple's technology running at scale, with over 2.5 billion active devices and billions of secure transactions.

Retail and Marcom Engineering, an IS&T team, builds and operates the systems and experiences that connect Apple's products with its customers. The team owns the technology behind both Apple's online and physical stores and drives the interactive marketing experiences and tools that keep creative operations moving. Together, those functions deliver the technology behind every product story Apple tells and every purchase a customer makes.

We're seeking a Program Management leader who can build and lead teams and deliver complex, large-scale technology initiatives with strong program, product, and cross-functional leadership. This team will accelerate delivery of IS&T's roadmap across enterprise systems, cloud infrastructure, retail technology, and AI-powered internal tools — partnering with engineering, product, and business stakeholders across Apple to ensure these systems are secure, reliable, and built to scale.

You will drive the vision, planning, and execution of IS&T’s program roadmap, partnering across engineering, product, and business teams to deliver some of the most ambitious internal and externally facing technology initiatives at Apple — from enterprise and customer systems to cloud infrastructure built on AWS and GCP, retail and supply chain software, G&A workflow systems, AI and machine learning platforms, and enterprise security services.

You will lead a team of program managers who drive cross-functional programs from concept through delivery, manage dependencies across engineering organizations, surface and resolve risk, and ensure executive stakeholders have clear visibility into progress, trade-offs, and outcomes. You will work closely with engineering leadership to translate business and technical requirements into executable roadmaps, and you will be accountable for the quality, timeliness, and impact of the programs your team delivers.

Builds, motivates, and develops a team of program managers across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Uses data and metrics to assess program health and drive corrective action.

Articulates program vision and priorities, pivoting direction as business or technical needs change.

Drives continuous improvement in delivery predictability, agility, and operational efficiency across the team.

10+ years in a role leading cross-functional teams in technical program or product delivery (e.g., Program Management or Engineering Management).

BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience.

Prior experience operating at senior manager level or above in a large-scale technology organization.

Proven track record delivering large-scale enterprise technology programs — spanning infrastructure, data systems, retail or sales technology, or AI/ML platforms — with measurable business or operational impact.

Experience building, motivating, and leading teams of program managers across multiple concurrent initiatives.

Experience leading large-scale, cross-functional technology programs spanning hardware, software, infrastructure, or enterprise systems.

Ability to engage with business and engineering partners and influence executive stakeholders on complex, ambiguous initiatives.

Strong creative and critical thinking skills, with the ability to triage and prioritize cross-functional teams under pressure.
