Set technical direction for reliability engineering practices across the team — on-call strategy, incident response, process, and service-level objectives
Drive capacity and scalability planning proactively — load testing and forecasting, not just reactive dashboard-watching
Own major incident response and postmortems for critical production systems, driving root-cause fixes rather than one-off patches
Design and evolve infrastructure-as-code and automation standards used across the team
Administer and scale critical database and storage systems at production scale
Mentor engineers, review designs, and raise the technical rigor bar across the team
Partner with engineering, product, and other cross-functional teams to embed reliability, scalability, and observability requirements into the development lifecycle
Evaluate and introduce new tools and platforms to improve reliability and team velocity
