Why Apple? Apple Intelligence Operations is at the center of making some of the most exciting Software features a reality for Customers. As a SWE program manager in this role, you have the opportunity to collaborate with Apple Feature teams across the company to deliver Apple Intelligence powered features across every Apple product.
To thrive in this role, you enjoy driving clarity across many stakeholders, turning requirements into clear plans, and helping teams navigate fast-moving technical infrastructure. Your curiosity and passion for learning will inspire your thought leadership to invent new processes and refine existing ones to drive bringup for new models across on-device and server infrastructure, and guide adoption of new model versions.
The Model Operations team provides crucial partnership to connect the AIML team with the many feature teams across iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS and services.
Serve as the primary point of contact between AIML and feature teams, gathering, synthesizing, and prioritizing model requirements
Help feature teams onboard to build new features on top of Apple's on-device and server models, including guiding them through APIs, tooling, and best practices
Drive bringup and rollout of new models across Apple's on-device and server infrastructure, coordinating across AIML, infrastructure, and feature teams
Partner with feature teams to plan and execute adoption of new model versions as they're released, minimizing disruption and maximizing capability uptake
Track and clearly communicate model roadmaps, capabilities, and constraints to stakeholders across the company
Identify process and tooling gaps, and build scalable processes to streamline how feature teams engage with the Model Team
Manage cross-functional schedules, dependencies, and risks across multiple concurrent model bringups and adoption efforts
Facilitate regular syncs, reviews, and roadmap discussions between AIML and feature team stakeholders
3-5+ years experience as a technical software Project or Program Manager, ideally supporting ML/AI or model-focused teams
Prior experience leading and shipping complex, cross-functional technical projects and quickly picking up new technologies
Hands on experience with software development practices and/or the machine learning model lifecycle (training, evaluation, deployment)
Strong technical understanding of on-device and server model infrastructure, and how models integrate into product features
Experience working with large language models, foundation models, or other generative AI systems
Familiarity with on-device and server-side deployment constraints (memory, latency, compute) for ML models
Excellent spoken and written communication with the ability to tailor communication style across research engineers, infrastructure teams, and feature team leads
Proven track record in defining processes and executing on them in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
Self-motivated and enthusiastic with demonstrated creative and critical thinking capabilities
Deeply curious about how models work and how they get built into product features, with a passion for connecting technical capability to real user impact
Excellent attention to detail and highly organized, able to track many concurrent workstreams across multiple teams
Ability to build relationships and influence others without direct authority
Comfortable engaging with technical concepts related to machine learning models, model infrastructure, and APIs
