Apple is looking for an experienced payments business development manager with deep product acumen, practical market knowledge and trusted relationships across Southeast Asia. You will develop and grow partnerships with local payment partners, particularly eWallets, real-time payment (RTP) providers and mobile carriers, to improve how customers access and pay for Apple services.
The role has three primary areas of accountability: growing payment partnerships, leading payment channel integrations and product optimisation end to end, and orchestrating partner and cross-functional collaboration to grow the Apple Services business in the region. You will work primarily with the Apple Media Products (AMP) payments product team and local Apple Services teams, while mobilising regional and global stakeholders.
- Own and grow strategic relationships with payment partners across selected markets in Southeast Asia. Build executive sponsorship and effective working relationships, establish joint business plans and lead regular business reviews to deepen collaboration and expand the partnership over time.
- Work with cross-functional teams to execute partnership plans.
- Work primarily with the AMP payments product team, and in close partnership with local Apple Services teams, to shape product plans and requirements. Provide well-reasoned market and product input, influence prioritisation and drive new partner integrations, new feature creation and adoption, and existing product optimisation from recommendation through implementation, launch and post-launch improvement.
- Lead partner and payment-method due diligence with relevant specialists, evaluating commercial economics, technical readiness, risk and customer experience, and aligning findings with business needs. Use market, partner and performance data to develop business cases and clear recommendations.
- Develop and execute joint marketing programmes with payment partners that leverage partner funding, channels, customer reach and traffic to drive payment-method adoption, customer engagement and incremental Apple Services billings.
- Structure and negotiate partnerships that advance Apple’s commercial and customer objectives while addressing partners’ core priorities. Align incentives, secure commitments and manage the relationship from initial engagement through launch and expansion.
- Identify and develop new collaboration opportunities between payment partners and Apple Services, including the App Store, Apple first-party services and Apple Pay. Build compelling proposals to secure support from cross-functional teams and align priorities.
- Use data to manage partnership performance and identify further growth opportunities.
- This is a senior individual contributor role with a high degree of autonomy and no direct people-management responsibilities.
10+ years of experience in the Southeast Asian payments industry, with substantial responsibility for business development, strategic partnerships or commercial relationship management.
Strong payment product knowledge and demonstrated experience working with product teams to evaluate solutions, define requirements, influence roadmaps and drive implementation. Able to contribute well-reasoned product recommendations for both new partner integrations and the optimisation of existing payment products. Relevant experience may come from a product role or from substantial product-facing business development or partnership work.
Deep, practical knowledge of Southeast Asia’s payment markets and alternative payment products, particularly eWallets, QR-based payments and RTP. Able to assess a specific local method’s customer experience, end-to-end payment flow, market adoption and suitability for Apple Services, with a working understanding of integration models, APIs, payment and refund flows, and settlement.
An established and actively maintained network across Southeast Asia’s payments ecosystem, including trusted relationships with senior leaders at major eWallet providers and other relevant payment institutions. Able to use these relationships to obtain timely market intelligence.
A proven record of establishing and expanding strategic partnerships with eWallets or other payment institutions, supported by measurable commercial results. Able to identify decision makers, build internal champions, establish executive sponsorship and turn an initial agreement into a sustained, growing relationship. Strong commercial judgement and negotiation skills, with the ability to maximise long-term value for Apple while addressing the partner’s core needs.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mobilise cross-functional teams without formal authority. Experience securing executive sponsorship and product or engineering resources through persuasive business cases, thoughtful prioritisation and clear ownership of outcomes.
Strong data and analytical skills, with the ability to source, triangulate and interpret market, partner and performance data. Skilled in opportunity sizing, adoption and transaction-share analysis, business case development and performance measurement; uses data as the basis for recommendations, prioritisation and decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication in English, with the ability to engage senior executives and explain payment and product concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
An independent, resourceful and collaborative working style, with strong ownership, sound judgement and the ability to deliver through ambiguity and competing priorities.
A resourceful and creative problem-solver who can think outside the box and deliver results even with limited resources.
Formal product management experience, particularly in payments or digital services.
Deep understanding of card payments, including issuing, acquiring, card networks, tokenisation, authentication and authorisation optimisation. Experience in Apple Pay is highly preferred.
Experience with gaming, digital content or subscription businesses.
