Imagine what you could do at Apple. Here, new ideas have a way of becoming great products, services, and customer experiences very quickly. Bring passion and dedication to your job and there’s no telling what you could accomplish! The watchOS Apps team is looking for a software engineer to help shape the future of Apple Watch. You’ll build first-party apps, complications, and other experiences, including as Timers, Weather, Home, and Compass. Your work will be experienced by millions of Apple Watch users every day.
As a member of the team, you will work closely with Design, Marketing, Quality Assurance, and other Engineering teams to help define the future of our products. You’ll take collaborative ownership of the development and quality of critical first-party apps and experiences on watchOS. You’ll adopt new APIs early and help shape their ergonomics by giving feedback to the teams that build them. Much of this software runs continuously and works within a small power and memory budget, so reliability, power, and memory are part of each feature rather than follow-up work.
Curious and resourceful people who take an expansive view of their role will thrive in this multidisciplinary environment, where you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with experts across Apple.
Collaborate closely with the Design team to open up the boundaries of human-computer interactions.
Craft efficient solutions tailored to the constraints of a small, low power device.
Adopt new APIs and influence their design through feedback to the teams that build them.
Coordinate with our QA and Automation partner teams for full test coverage to ensure that we meet the high expectations our users have come to expect.
Advocate for the unique needs of Apple Watch in cross-functional forums.
BS CE/CS or equivalent experience.
Experience building apps or frameworks with Apple technologies.
Proficiency with Swift and SwiftUI.
Excellent communication and collaborative skills. Enthusiasm about working on a cross-functional team.
Upbeat, adaptable, helpful, and results-oriented, with fantastic attention to detail.
Familiarity with WidgetKit, ActivityKit, or UserNotifications.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating toward solutions in a fast-moving environment.
Thoughtful use of GenAI coding tools to accelerate development without compromising clarity or craft.
Genuine interest in wearable technology and the Apple Watch user experience.
