Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Strategy

Own the end-to-end functional architecture and multi-year roadmap for Opportunity-to-Order BOM, and Configure/Engineer-to-Order across SAP CRM, ECC, S/4HANA and adjacent platforms.

Translate complex business requirements into creative, pragmatic and scalable functional solution designs; challenge the status quo and simplify where possible, with a "clean core" mindset for S/4HANA.

Define architecture principles, design standards and governance; serve as design authority for configuration, order management, pricing and billing changes.

Lead fit-gap, solution options analysis and business-case development for transformation initiatives, including the migration path from SAP VC/CRM to S/4HANA (AVC, SSC and related capabilities).

Complex Product Configuration & Sales Order BOMs

Functionally architect variant configuration models for highly complex, multi-level configurable products, including classes/characteristics, configuration profiles, object dependencies (preconditions, selection conditions, procedures, constraints), variant tables and variant functions.

Design and manage Sales Order BOM processes – super BOM/super routing, order-specific BOM changes with attached change simulation and reason codes, multi-level configuration, BOM explosion and the hand-off of configured orders to engineering, planning and manufacturing.

Lead configuration knowledge-base strategy across CRM (IPC/SCE) and ERP, ensuring consistency of product models from quote through order, production and service.

Drive the design and adoption of SAP Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) and/or SAP Solution Sales Configuration (SSC) as part of the S/4HANA roadmap.

Sales, Order Management, Pricing & Customer Specials

Architect solutions for opportunity, quotation, sales order, contract and change-order management for capital equipment, spares and services.

Design robust processes and tooling for customer specials and non-standard requests – capture, engineering review, approval, costing, pricing and traceability through fulfillment.

Own pricing solution architecture, including condition technique, variant/characteristic-based pricing, contract and customer-specific pricing, discounts, approvals and margin controls.

Integrate configuration and order processes with PLM, engineering change management, supply chain, project systems and service.

Engineer-to-Order / Configure-to-Order

Define end-to-end ETO and CTO process architecture – from configured quote through order engineering, BOM finalization, build, ship and install.

Balance standardization and flexibility so that engineered content and customer specials can be delivered at scale without compromising data integrity or cycle time.

Billing & Revenue Innovation Management (BRIM)

Architect BRIM solutions (Subscription Order Management, Convergent Charging, Convergent Invoicing, FI-CA) to support service agreements, subscriptions, usage-based and outcome-based commercial models.

Ensure seamless integration of BRIM with order management, pricing, revenue recognition and Finance.

Delivery & Program Leadership

Provide functional solution leadership for large, global SAP deployments and transformation programs – from strategy and blueprinting through design, build, test, cutover and hypercare.

Contributes to the development and implementation of IT project management, software application development, testing, service management, change management, RCA and other relevant process, standards, governance and control changes and improvements. May manage execution of SOX controls and testing, and support internal and external audits.

Partner with program management, system integrators and vendors; hold partners accountable for design quality, scope and outcomes.

Manage portfolio priorities, budgets and resource plans; measure and communicate business value delivered.

People & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Lead, develop and inspire a global team of solution architects, functional leads and analysts (direct and matrixed); build deep bench strength in configuration and quote-to-cash.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders; influence decisions, align stakeholders and drive change across organizational boundaries.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • 15+ years of SAP experience in Sales & Distribution / Order-to-Cash and complex product configuration, with 8+ years in senior solution architecture and people leadership roles.
  • Deep, hands-on expertise in SAP Variant Configuration (LO-VC) – modeling, object dependencies, variant tables/functions, configuration profiles, variant pricing and multi-level configuration.
  • Proven experience creating and managing Sales Order BOMs and order-specific BOM processes for complex configurable products.
  • Strong functional experience across SAP CRM (opportunity, quotation, order, IPC/configuration) and SAP ECC (SD, VC, pricing, integration with PP/MM/PS/FI).
  • Demonstrated experience designing solutions for Engineer-to-Order and/or Configure-to-Order business models.
  • Experience designing solutions for customer specials, non-standard configurations and complex pricing scenarios.
  • Track record of leading large, global SAP deployments in multiple leadership roles (e.g., solution architect lead, process/track lead, design authority, program leader).
  • Experience with SAP BRIM or comparable subscription / usage-based billing solutions.
  • Exceptional ability to simplify complexity and communicate with executives, business users and technical teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with SAP Advanced Variant Configuration (AVC) and/or SAP Solution Sales Configuration (SSC).
  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, ideally in the High Tech or Industrial Machinery & Components / Industrial Engineering industry solutions.
  • Background in semiconductor, capital equipment, industrial machinery or other high-complexity engineered-product industries.
  • Experience leading VC-to-AVC or CRM-to-S/4HANA (or SAP Sales Cloud / CPQ) migrations.
  • Familiarity with PLM integration (e.g., Teamcenter), engineering change management and service/installed-base processes.
  • Master's degree or MBA; SAP certification(s) in SD, VC or S/4HANA Sales.

Leadership Attributes

  • Architect's mindset: sees the end-to-end picture and designs for scale, maintainability and future flexibility.
  • Creative problem solver: finds elegant answers to unusually complex configuration and commercial problems.
