Managing Legal Counsel - ART UK

London, United Kingdom Hybrid Full-time

We’re all about helping our members make the most of their money. And while they go after their goals, you can too. Reporting to the Associate General Counsel – Investments Legal, you’ll help navigate sophisticated transactions, regulatory obligations, legal risk and evolving business priorities. You’ll lead complex negotiations, contribute to the leadership of the Investments Legal team and help shape legal approaches, policies and processes as ART’s international investment activities evolve.

This role is a permanent opportunity and is based in London, UK.

Day to day, you'll

  • Lead commercially focused legal advice across ART UK’s investment and operational activities.
  • Act as the primary legal contact for ART UK and build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Lead legal support for complex, high-value private markets investments, structures and documentation.
  • Partner with Risk, Compliance and broader business teams on ART UK requirements.
  • Work with external legal advisers on licensing, regulatory, investment and operational matters.
  • Develop legal, compliance, due diligence and internal processes that support ART UK’s activities.
  • Monitor relevant legislative and regulatory developments and translate them into practical advice and training.
  • It goes without saying you'll be a great communicator with top notch interpersonal skills. We'll also expect you to pick up problems and come up with quick, creative ways to solve them. It's quite likely you tick some of the following boxes too:
  • You hold a tertiary qualification in Law and a current unrestricted practising certificate in Australia and/or England and Wales.
  • Your background includes extensive legal experience with a top-tier law firm and/or investment bank, with a focus on private markets investments.
  • You'll bring strong experience negotiating and drafting complex, high-value investment arrangements.
  • You're an experienced leader who can guide other legal professionals and positively influence team culture.
  • Your stakeholder skills enable you to build trusted relationships and influence effectively at senior levels.
  • You'll be comfortable managing multiple transactions, projects and priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • You can work flexibly across UK and Australian time zones when investment or operational matters require it.
