Auzo Inc. | Valencia or Orange County (Costa Mesa), CA | ~20 hrs/week | $45-$55/hr, commensurate with experience About Auzo Auzo is on a mission to save people time for the things that matter. We pick up your car, take it in for service, and bring it back, so there are no more waiting rooms and no more lines. We run on NetSuite Financials, Gusto, and Ramp, and we’re growing quickly. That means the books need to be clean, current, and investor-ready at all times.
This is a newly created role where you’ll work directly with the founders and see how an early-stage company really operates. What You’ll Do - Run accounts payable and accounts receivable accurately and on time. - Complete bank and credit card reconciliations every month. - Post and maintain journal entries and the general ledger. - Own the monthly close and deliver timely, accurate financial statements. - Review partner and driver records that sync automatically into NetSuite, tie them back to payouts and invoices, and flag anything that looks off. - Process payroll for W-2 employees and contractor payments in Gusto, including onboarding new hires into payroll. - Set up and maintain state payroll tax accounts as we hire in new states. - Prepare and file year-end W-2s and 1099s, including high-volume 1099s for drivers. - Manage expenses and vendor records in Ramp. - Handle sales tax and local tax filings. - Build cash flow forecasts and track runway. - Produce monthly budget vs. actual reports and variance analysis. - Slice financial data by partner, driver, region, cost category, and time period to answer leadership questions. - Track key business metrics like revenue and cost per trip, partner and driver economics, and cash position. - Build and maintain NetSuite saved searches and dashboards.
You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable working in a customized setup. - Pull accurate data quickly for investor updates, board materials, and due diligence requests. - Work with our outside CPA on the annual tax return and supporting documentation. - Help with ad hoc accounting and reporting projects as the company grows. Who You Are You like bringing order to messy situations and take pride in books that are accurate and reliable.
You actually enjoy a reconciliation that ties out and a report that tells a clear story. You notice when something looks wrong before anyone asks, and you speak up early. You’re comfortable in a startup where processes are still being built, and you’d rather suggest a better way than wait to be told. You treat payroll, banking, and company financials with complete confidentiality. Requirements - 3+ years of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience at an accounting firm serving business clients or at an operating company. - NetSuite Financials experience, including creating saved searches and configuring dashboards on your own. - Solid knowledge of AP, AR, general ledger, month-end close, and financial statement preparation. - Experience with payroll processing and payroll tax compliance. - Strong Excel skills and the ability to build clean, presentation-ready reports. - Able to explain financial results clearly to people who aren’t accountants, including founders and investors when needed. - Strong attention to detail.
Errors in the books show up in investor reporting and driver payouts. - Based in Santa Clarita/Valencia or Orange County, with the ability to attend occasional in-person meetings in either area. Nice to Have - Experience with marketplace or gig economy businesses and 1099 contractor payments. - Experience with Gusto and Ramp. - Background at an early-stage or VC-backed startup. - Experience supporting investor updates, board materials, or due diligence. - Multi-state payroll experience. - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
Compensation $45-$55 per hour, based on experience, NetSuite proficiency, and reporting and forecasting skills. What We Offer - Flexible part-time schedule with room to grow into more hours. - Direct access to the founders and very little bureaucracy. - Real visibility into the finances and operations of a fast-growing startup. - The chance to build the financial foundation of the company from the ground up.
