- Location: Tokyo
- Employment Type: Full-time, regular, hybrid work arrangement
Position Overview
As a member of the AVEVA Presales team, you will lead technical sales engagements for customers in process industries, steel, energy, shipbuilding, and chemical plant sectors, with a focus on engineering solutions built around the AVEVA portfolio.
Working closely with Sales, you will serve as the technical lead throughout the opportunity lifecycle — from identifying and understanding customer engineering and design challenges to proposing solutions leveraging AVEVA Unified Engineering (AVEVA E3D, AVEVA Engineering), delivering value-based demonstrations, conducting Proofs of Concept (PoCs), leading technical workshops, and preparing proposals.
A key focus of this role is Electrical & Instrumentation expertise. The successful candidate will strengthen the team's ability to address E&I design requirements in addition to piping and equipment design, enabling comprehensive engineering solution proposals to customers.
This position is part of the Technical Sales Department and reports to the Presales Manager. You will work collaboratively with local and global stakeholders, including Sales, partners, Delivery, Customer Success, and Product teams, to grow the Unified Engineering business and build customer trust.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to develop account plans, technical sales strategies, and proposal approaches for AVEVA Unified Engineering opportunities
- Understand customer challenges in plant design and engineering workflows, and design and propose optimal solution architectures
- Plan and deliver product presentations, value-based demonstrations, and technical workshops tailored to audiences ranging from executive management to plant engineers
- Plan and execute PoCs / Proofs of Value, including establishing evaluation environments, performing validation, and reporting outcomes
- Prepare technical responses to RFIs/RFPs, as well as the technical components of proposals, system architecture diagrams, bills of materials, and quotations
- Respond to customer inquiries regarding product selection, functionality, and technical specifications; collaborate with partners and product development teams as needed to advance complex solution proposals
- Support conversion proposals from existing products (AVEVA E3D, AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Diagrams, etc.) to AVEVA Unified Engineering from a technical perspective
- Deliver presentations at seminars, user conferences, and webinars, and create technical and industry-focused content
- Provide technical support and training to sales partners, while contributing to knowledge sharing and the standardization of proposal and demonstration assets within the team
- Ensure a smooth handover to Delivery and Customer Success teams after contract award, and communicate customer and market feedback to Product Management and Product Development teams
Essential Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in technical sales or engineering for industrial software or IT solutions, such as Presales, Sales Engineering, Design Engineering, or Implementation Consulting
- Experience engaging with customers in plant engineering, oil & gas, chemicals, manufacturing, steel, or energy sectors, including sales engagements, solution proposals, or project delivery
- Knowledge and practical experience in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) design (e.g., instrumentation design, control system design, electrical design, wiring design, loop diagrams, interlock design)
- Ability to analyze and structure customer business and technical challenges, and translate them into practical technical solutions
- Ability to design and deliver presentations for a range of stakeholders, including executives, design teams, IT teams, and plant engineers
- Experience preparing and delivering product demonstrations, technical workshops, PoCs, and/or technical proposals
- Ability to independently manage multiple opportunities and competing priorities in a structured and effective manner
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Japanese: Business-level proficiency or above
- English: Ability to communicate effectively with global internal stakeholders in a business context through email, chat, and verbal communication
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using or positioning AVEVA products such as AVEVA E3D Design, AVEVA Diagrams, AVEVA Instrumentation, AVEVA Electrical, AVEVA Engineering, or AVEVA P&ID
- Knowledge or experience with the AVEVA Unified Engineering platform
- Experience with 3D plant design tools (AVEVA E3D, Smart 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, etc.)
- Knowledge and experience in process engineering disciplines such as P&ID, piping design, and equipment design
- Experience with data integration, customization, or automation (APIs, scripting, etc.)
- Knowledge of design data management and collaboration platforms in cloud environments such as Azure or AWS
- Experience in Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) is preferred.
- Design and engineering experience at EPC contractors or owner-operators
- Experience working for an international software vendor or collaborating with global teams
- Experience coaching, mentoring, or training sales partners and junior team members
