Position Description

Ayar Labs, the global leader in optical I/O chiplets, is harnessing silicon photonics to revolutionize the scaling of AI compute hardware. You will design devices enabling next-generation wavelength-division-multiplexing systems, including advanced passive and tunable optical filters. Leveraging our mature test capabilities and rich pipeline of previously taped-out devices, you will identify promising future directions, craft optimized exploratory submissions, and support selection of devices for our next high-impact product PIC.

Intern Skillset Needed

• Proficiency with Python
• Experience writing well-structured code and developing a code base as part of a team
• Deep understanding of photonic devices: couplers, micro-ring resonators, gratings
• Experience with simulation and design tools for optical devices (e.g., FDTD)

Education Requirements

Candidate should be actively pursuing a PhD in Electrical Engineering or other Engineering with Photonics specialization

Pay Range: $50 - 60/hourly, depending on education level
