Position Overview
Are you the safety trainer people actually remember? You know the type: the instructor who makes a forklift class or an OSHA 30 session click, who earns respect on the job site and in the classroom, and whose lessons crews still remember months later. If that’s you, we want you on our team.
As our Safety Trainer, you’ll be the go-to safety educator for Beitzel Corporation, Pillar Innovations, and our affiliated companies. This isn’t a desk job reading slides. You’ll be out where the work happens, teaching hands-on and in the classroom at our division offices, shops, and job sites. You’ll lead OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Outreach, DOT driver safety, forklift operation, signal person and rigging, and NFPA 70E electrical safety. Every class you teach helps someone recognize a hazard, control it, and go home safe to their family. Few roles let you see your impact that clearly.
We’re looking for an engaging, down-to-earth instructor who can connect with everyone from first-day hires to 30-year tradespeople. You’ll need a current OSHA Outreach Training Program Authorized Trainer card and a strong command of OSHA Construction and General Industry regulations, along with a working knowledge of DOT, MSHA, and the consensus standards behind our work. Classes are built around our crews’ schedules, so you’ll sometimes teach early mornings, evenings, or weekends, with occasional overnight travel. In return, you’ll get variety, the freedom to make the training your own, and the choice of a full-time or part-time schedule.
What You'll Do
Teach OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour Outreach Training Program courses for Construction and/or General Industry in accordance with OSHA Outreach Training Program Requirements, including class documentation and student course completion card requests through the Authorizing Training Organization
Teach DOT and driver safety classes, including driver qualification, hours of service, pre -trip and posttrip vehicle inspections, cargo securement, defensive and distracted driving, and DOT drug and alcohol program requirements
Conduct powered industrial truck (forklift) operator training, including classroom instruction and hands-on practical evaluations, in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178(l), and complete refresher training and three-year operator re-evaluations
Eeach signal person and rigging classes, including standard hand signals, load weight estimation, rigging hardware selection and inspection, sling angles, and load control, and conduct practical evaluations to qualify signal persons and riggers in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart CC and ASME B30 standards
Teach NFPA 70E electrical safety classes for qualified and unqualified persons, including the electrical safety program, shock and arc flash risk assessment, approach boundaries, establishing an electrically safe work condition, and selection and use of arc-rated PPE
When certified, teach MSHA Part 48 new miner, newly employed experienced miner, task, and annual refresher training, and complete MSHA training records (Form 5000-23)
When certified, teach First Aid, CPR, and AED classes

- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, including training equipment, rigging hardware, and classroom materials
- Operate forklifts and other powered equipment during practical training and evaluations
- Access shop floors, job sites, and elevated work areas when assisting with audits or responding to incidents
