We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen. As we continue to invest in our digital future, we are seeking a senior risk leader to join our newly created Divisional CRO function.
It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.
This isn’t just an oversight role; it's a strategic leadership position with a mandate to shape the risk dialogue for our entire Digital division. You will be a critical partner to the executive team, translating the Bank's risk strategy into operational reality and ensuring our digital ambitions are achieved safely and sustainably. You’ll love the good you can do here.
As the Head of Line 2 Risk, Digital, reporting to the CRO, Consumer & Digital and a peer to the Head of Line 2 Risk, Consumer, you will make a significant impact by:
Providing Strategic Risk Leadership: Act as the primary risk advisor to the Digital division's Executive and Leadership Team, using your deep technical expertise to provide independent, informed challenge and commercially astute recommendations.
Driving Risk Oversight & Assurance: Oversee and challenge the identification, assessment, and governance of risks to the Digital Division, ensuring alignment with the Bank's risk appetite and regulatory obligations. You will develop and execute a strategic annual assurance plan.
Shaping Executive & Board Dialogue: Formulate and assert an informed opinion that shapes the risk conversation at the highest levels, preparing formal risk commentary and assessments for Executive and Board-level papers, product approvals, and major investment cases.
Leading a High-Performing Team: Build and lead the Line 2 risk function for the Digital division, fostering a high-performance, 'speak up' culture and developing the capabilities required to meet the Bank's strategic objectives.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
This role demands a leader with deep technical mastery in risk management, combined with the executive presence and strategic acumen to influence at the highest levels of the organisation.
To succeed in this role, we’d love you to have:
Extensive experience (10+ years) in the banking or financial services industry, with a deep, strategic understanding of complex bank operations, technology risk, digital channels, and/or payments.
Proven expertise in second-line risk management, demonstrating the ability to provide robust, constructive challenge to the business and translate complex frameworks into operational practice.
Demonstrated track record of building collaborative and influential relationships with senior stakeholders, including at the Executive, Leadership Team, and Board level.
Strong executive communication and influencing skills, with the gravitas to shape Board-level dialogue and build strategic partnerships across the business.
Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline.
So, why work for us?
Want to be more than just a number? Join a team that truly values you and the diverse contribution you make, every day. You’ll also get access to a great range of benefits, including:
Flexibility: Whether it’s hybrid work, flexible hours, or something different, our flexible work options are designed to put people first.
Wellbeing Support: Health and wellbeing support, including discounted gym memberships, private health insurance options, and our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
Professional Growth: Opportunities to take your learning to the next level through our corporate university ‘BEN U’ or at an external provider of your choice.
We believe a diverse workforce supported by an inclusive culture is central to our success and we actively encourage applications from those who bring diversity of thought to our business. We support candidate requests for adjustment to accommodate an illness, injury, or disability to equitably participate in the selection process.
Still in two minds?
Research suggests 60% of women and underrepresented groups might stop here, even after getting as far as drafting an application. We believe that diversity makes every team stronger, so even if you don’t tick every box we still want to see your application!
We’re making better, bigger. And we’ll get there with you.
Now’s the time to set your sights even higher – on the future you and the future career you deserve.
