Ready to take ownership of finance in a growing international organisation?
BioPhorum is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to join our expanding organisation and play a key role in supporting our international operations.
Following our continued growth and the acquisition of PharmaX Solutions, we're looking for a commercially minded, hands-on finance professional who can bring strong accounting expertise, operational finance experience and a good understanding of the German market.
This is much more than a reporting role. You'll work closely with project, delivery and commercial teams, taking ownership of financial processes, strengthening financial control and helping the business make better-informed decisions.
You'll have the opportunity to influence how finance operates across our international group, improve processes and support the continued development of a growing and evolving organisation.
What you'll be doing
- You'll take responsibility for a portfolio of project accounts and provide financial oversight across our international businesses. This will include:
- Partnering with project, delivery and commercial teams to improve project margins, strengthen cost control and drive financial performance.
- Managing project accounting and revenue recognition, ensuring accounting policies are consistently and accurately applied.
- Monitoring WIP and POA, including monthly reconciliations, reporting and variance analysis.
- Preparing and overseeing monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules for international entities.
- Challenging forecasts, reviewing project costs and identifying financial risks and opportunities.
- Providing practical financial guidance to operational teams and supporting the application of project accounting best practice.
- Driving continuous improvement across financial reporting, planning, cost models and systems.
- Coordinating year-end activities with outsourced accountants across multiple countries.
- Supporting monthly payroll reviews and reconciliations.
- Supporting the financial integration of acquisitions and helping develop scalable processes as the group continues to grow.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the practical experience to take ownership of day-to-day finance operations.
You'll be confident working independently, comfortable getting into the detail and able to build effective relationships with colleagues across the business.
The following are essential
An internationally recognised accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA, or equivalent.
At least five years' post-qualification experience.
Strong accounting expertise, including management accounts, financial reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and revenue recognition.
Hands-on operational finance experience, with the ability to manage day-to-day financial activities and take ownership of accounting processes.
Good knowledge and understanding of the German market, including familiarity with the local financial and business environment.
Fluent written and spoken German and English.
Strong project accounting, revenue recognition and management accounting experience.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience working with an ERP system. NetSuite experience would be particularly advantageous.
Experience working within an international or multi-entity environment.
Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with and challenge senior stakeholders.
Spanish language skills would be an additional advantage.
The person we'd love to meet
You're proactive, commercially curious and enjoy being close to the business. You won't be someone who simply produces reports and waits to be asked questions; you'll want to understand what's happening, identify opportunities for improvement and help teams make better financial decisions.
You'll be comfortable balancing the detail of accounting with the wider commercial picture, managing competing priorities and working with colleagues across different countries and functions.
Most importantly, you'll enjoy taking ownership, finding solutions and making a tangible contribution to the way finance supports the business.
