BIS Safety Software is a SaaS company on a mission to change how organizations manage safety, learning, and compliance, and the team behind that mission matters just as much as the product. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding our QA team and adding another QA Analyst to help strengthen our testing capabilities. About the role: In this role, you'll own manual and exploratory testing for new features and releases on the BIS platform.
This isn't a follow-the-script, mark-pass-or-fail role. It's about understanding what a feature is supposed to do, stepping off the expected path, and finding the problems nobody thought to write a test case for. You'll write the test plans, design the cases, run and maintain our existing automated suites, and work side by side with developers to get issues reproduced and fixed. You'll use AI tools as an everyday partner to get more done.
This is an onsite role based out of our Sherwood Park, Alberta office. In this role, you will be expected to: Test new features and releases manually, with exploratory coverage that goes well beyond the written script Design test cases for new functionality, including the edge cases the requirements didn't mention Document defects clearly enough that developers can reproduce them without coming back to you for more detail Run and maintain our automated test suites , keeping them healthy as the product changes Prepare test data and support regression testing across releases Use AI agents to draft test plans, find edge cases, maintain automated tests, investigate failures, and improve release workflows, verifying everything they produce.
Put AI tools to work to speed up test design, documentation, and execution Shape how we test by contributing to QA team discussions on coverage and process improvement You might be the right fit if you: Hunt for what could break , treating every feature as something to question rather than something to confirm Write defect reports that are precise, complete, and impossible to misread Prioritize under pressure , weighing business priority and risk Treat AI as a partner in your work and keep looking for ways to use it better Speak up when something looks off, even if nobody else has noticed Take ownership of your work and keep it moving without needing direction on every step Qualifications we are looking for: 2 to 3 years of hands-on QA experience , or formal QA training paired with at least a year of real-world testing A solid grasp of manual test case design, regression testing, and exploratory testing Experience with API testing and API testing tools Comfort with bug tracking tools such as Jira, Redmine, or similar Working knowledge of browser debugging tools An understanding of automation concepts and experience running or maintaining automated test scripts (writing them from scratch isn't required) Practical, everyday use of AI tools Bonus points if you have: Experience with TestRail or a similar test case management tool Exposure to Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or Puppeteer Familiarity with Git or other version control Some JavaScript or TypeScript Mobile testing experience, especially iOS edge cases Compensation and benefits: Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Full medical, dental, and vision coverage Life insurance and disability insurance Health spending account Flexible working hours On-the-job training and growth opportunities Free on-site parking About BIS: BIS Safety Software has been headquartered in Sherwood Park, Alberta, since 2006.
We build software that helps organizations manage safety training, learning, and compliance - and we’re growing! A few things that make us different: we don’t use job titles internally - we value humility and contribution over hierarchy. We move fast, integrate new ideas quickly, and give people real ownership of their work. And through our Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), you have the opportunity to own a piece of the company you’re helping build.
How to apply: We love hearing from our candidates - please include a cover letter. Visit our Careers Page for more information. We sincerely thank all applicants for their interest. Only those selected for interviews will be contacted. Job ID #T202610-16CQA
