The Risk Implementation Team provides our clients with outstanding service throughout the scoping, deployment and integration of Bloomberg’s risk solutions into their existing business and technology environments.
Our Risk Implementation specialists work across a broad range of multi-asset risk products, including MARS Front Office Risk, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Counterparty Risk, Hedge Accounting and Collateral Management.
For the Multi-Asset Risk System (MARS), we partner closely with Sell-side Sales and Account Management throughout the sales process to ensure that our solutions are a strong fit for each client’s needs. Once a client moves forward, we work directly with them — alongside Bloomberg Product and Engineering teams — to design and deliver an efficient, scalable and exceptional onboarding experience.
This is a role for someone who enjoys solving difficult problems, learning continuously and taking real ownership. You will be given the space to develop deep expertise, exercise judgement and increasingly operate with autonomy as your knowledge and experience grow.
About the role
You will work at the intersection of financial markets, technology, risk analytics and client delivery. Your responsibilities will include:
Partnering with Sales to analyse client workflows, gather requirements, identify gaps and design the most effective solution. This includes scoping workflows, presenting proposed solutions back to clients and translating requirements for Product and Engineering teams where development is required.
Developing a strong understanding of Sell-side operating models and using that knowledge to act as a trusted adviser when designing and delivering best-practice workflows.
Project managing complex implementations across our EMEA client base, aligning with Bloomberg implementation standards while tailoring our solutions to meet individual client requirements and demanding delivery timelines.
Onboarding clients onto Bloomberg risk solutions, including bringing positions and associated data into Bloomberg, helping clients understand risk analytics and supporting the design and generation of risk reports.
Defining implementation procedures for new products and continually refining existing processes, including identifying opportunities to use technologies such as AI to improve quality, efficiency and scalability.
Ensuring clients are positioned to extract maximum value from Bloomberg products both immediately and over the longer term by designing solutions that are robust and scalable.
Working closely with Product and Engineering teams on implementation-related development to ensure delivery remains aligned with client commitments.
Identifying opportunities to expand the Bloomberg product franchise by understanding broader client workflows and recognising where additional Bloomberg solutions could add value.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of our implementation methodology, tools, documentation and knowledge base.
This is not a volume implementation role. It requires analytical depth, delivery judgement, technical fluency and the ability to build confidence with senior client stakeholders.
We’ll trust you to
- Take ownership of complex and strategically important client engagements, acting as the project owner and coordinating Bloomberg teams, client stakeholders and external vendors through to successful completion.
- Bring structure to ambiguous problems, establish priorities and drive engagements forward without needing every answer in advance.
- Create transparency and consistency through clear communication, strong project governance and high-quality engagement documentation.
- Build credibility with clients by understanding both their business objectives and the technical and analytical detail behind the solution.
- Stay current with market developments, evolving regulation and Bloomberg product capabilities, continually exploring how our solutions can address new and existing client needs.
- Support Sales and Account Management with domain expertise during strategic client discussions, workshops, solution design sessions and proof-of-concepts.
- Develop a strong understanding of the asset classes and markets supported by Bloomberg’s risk solutions.
- Apply a solid understanding of financial modelling across cross-asset financial instruments, including fixed income, equities, OTC derivatives and more complex or exotic instruments.
- Train clients on Bloomberg risk products, analytics and pricing capabilities across multiple asset classes.
- Build a strong internal network across Product, Engineering, Sales, Account Management and other specialist teams, using the breadth of Bloomberg expertise to solve complex client problems.
- Share what you learn so that successful approaches can be scaled across the wider team.
How you are expected to operate
- This role offers significant scope for ownership and autonomy. We are looking for someone who is curious, ambitious and motivated by developing genuine expertise.
- You demonstrate high individual agency, strong analytical judgement and a desire to keep learning.
- You take ownership of open-ended problems and move them forward rather than waiting for perfect information or detailed instruction.
- You make reasoned decisions, test assumptions quickly and adjust your approach based on evidence, client feedback and delivery risk.
- You are comfortable balancing client expectations, commercial context, technical constraints and internal capacity.
- You actively invest in deepening your understanding of risk analytics, financial models, financial instruments, data structures, Bloomberg products and evolving Sell-side workflows.
- You seek out unfamiliar problems as opportunities to learn rather than remaining within a narrowly defined area of expertise.
- You reflect on both successful and difficult implementations and use those experiences to improve your judgement and approach.
- As your expertise develops, you will be expected to take on increasing levels of autonomy, influence and responsibility.
- Success in this role is not simply about completing implementations. It is about developing the judgement and expertise to become a trusted adviser to our clients and an authoritative voice internally.
You’ll need to have
- Experience within risk, financial services, financial technology, consulting or enterprise software implementation, including experience managing projects or complex client engagements.
- Experience implementing or working with risk and portfolio analytics such as Value at Risk (VaR), Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB), Standard Initial Margin Model (SIMM) and counterparty risk/XVA.
- A strong understanding of financial markets and a solid grounding in a range of asset classes. Experience with derivatives across multiple asset classes is essential.
- Familiarity with instruments including fixed income, equities, mortgages, structured products, OTC derivatives and other complex financial instruments.
- Proven experience gathering and analysing requirements, designing sophisticated workflows and translating business needs into practical solutions.
- Experience leading implementations, transformation programmes or strategic client engagements involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
- The ability to investigate differences between expected and observed analytics, identify root causes and communicate conclusions clearly.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical specialists, front-office users and senior business stakeholders.
- A track record of solving complex problems with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- The ability to operate successfully in both independent and highly collaborative environments.
- Comfort working with ambiguity, competing priorities and demanding client situations.
- Experience working with position and market data, data feeds, analytical outputs and technical integration workflows.
We’d love to see
- Previous experience in Sales or Account Management within the Sell-side financial industry.
- A programming or technical background that enables you to contribute effectively to API and data integration projects.
- Experience with APIs, Python, SQL or other data querying and analysis tools.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, Python or AI skills, particularly where these have been used to improve analysis, automation or client delivery.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
- Professional qualifications such as CFA or FRM, or an MSc in Financial Engineering or a related subject.
- Knowledge of collateral management workflows and processes.
- Evidence of independently developing expertise in new products, markets, technologies or analytical disciplines.
- If indicated, please note that years of experience are a guide; we will consider applications from all candidates who can demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.
