Blue Matter Consulting (BMI) is a rapidly growing management consultancy focused on the biopharmaceutical industry. We partner with life sciences companies to commercialize therapies that extend and improve human life — translating data and insights into strategies that matter.
We operate across seven global offices with an entrepreneurial culture built on curiosity, integrity, and collective excellence. Consultants at BMI are trusted leaders — the engine of client relationships, the architects of analytical frameworks, and the coaches who develop the next generation of BMI talent.
Our Core Values — The Foundation of How We Work
At BMI, values are the operating system behind every deliverable, every client conversation, and every promotion decision. As a consultant, you are not only expected to live these values — you are expected to model and multiply them across your team.
Speak the TRUTH — "True to the data; true to the client"
We let the data lead. Our recommendations are grounded in evidence, and when analysis contradicts expectations, we say so with clarity and respect.
Solve for SO WHAT — "Be the client, own the impact"
Every analysis we deliver connects to a real business need. We dig past the technical ask to understand the underlying question — and hold ourselves to delivering meaningful impact, not just outputs.
Stay CURIOUS — "Dig deeper, see further to innovate"
Curiosity is our superpower. We ask 'why' continuously, build T-shaped expertise across data, analytics, and business context, and embrace new tools and methods to solve old problems in better ways.
Win TOGETHER — "Individually experts; collectively transformative"
We encourage every voice regardless of level, hold each other accountable, and step up when it counts — across time zones and across teams.
The Role
As a Consultant at Blue Matter, you are the connective tissue between data and decision. You lead client-facing analytical engagements end-to-end, own the quality and strategic coherence of every deliverable on your projects, and serve as a trusted advisor to pharma and biotech clients navigating critical commercial challenges.
This is a role for someone who has moved well beyond execution. You shape the analytical approach, challenge the brief when necessary, mentor junior colleagues, and ensure BMI's four core values are embedded in how your team works — not just what it produces.
What You'll Do
- You will lead end-to-end delivery of analytics engagements while building lasting client relationships and developing your team. Your responsibilities span client leadership, analytical excellence, and people development:
- Lead with intellectual depth
- Set the research and analytical agenda for engagements: define which questions matter most and the most rigorous methods to answer them.
- Stay at the forefront of life sciences commercial trends, data ecosystems, and emerging analytical tools — and actively bring that knowledge into client engagements.
- Challenge assumptions in the brief, push past the obvious, and look around corners to surface insights clients haven't yet asked for but need.
- Foster a culture of curiosity on your team — coach analysts and associate consultants to ask better questions before they build models.
- Be the voice clients trust
- Own the integrity of all analytical outputs on your engagements — ensure every recommendation is backed by rigorous evidence, not narrative convenience.
- Deliver difficult findings to senior client stakeholders with confidence, clarity, and respect — including when data contradicts the client's hypothesis or internal position.
- Model radical candor internally: give direct, constructive feedback to junior colleagues and create an environment where concerns surface early.
- Do the right thing — flag risks, escalate issues, and never sell a project you know won't add value to the client.
- Architect impact, not just analysis
- Lead the design of analytical frameworks and custom solutions that address clients' underlying commercial challenges — not just their stated technical ask.
- Before scoping any engagement, ask: 'How will this analysis change the client's strategy?' Ensure scope serves impact, not the other way around.
- Develop and apply advanced statistical models, forecasting frameworks, segmentation analyses, and market models using Excel/VBA, Python, R, SQL, Alteryx, and visualization platforms (Tableau, Qlik, PowerPoint).
- Translate complex quantitative outputs into crisp executive narratives — from model to boardroom in one coherent story.
- Mentor associates on moving from technical execution to strategic thinking: coaching them to ask 'So what does this mean for the client?' at every step.
- Lead the team, build the partnership
- Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact: build trusted relationships across functional levels and ensure BMI is experienced as a strategic partner, not a vendor.
- Lead cross-functional, globally distributed project teams - actively bridge onshore and offshore colleagues so every team member is a full contributor, not just an executor.
- Invest in junior talent: coach analysts and associate consultants through regular feedback, stretch assignments, and honest conversations about their growth.
- Invite dissent and junior voices into project reviews — the best idea wins, regardless of who had it.
- Step in for teammates when the team needs it; never let a deliverable fail for lack of support.
What You'll Bring
Required
- 4-6 years of experience in analytics, data science, or management consulting - ideally with direct exposure to pharma or biotech commercial challenges.
- Advanced proficiency across multiple analytical tools: SQL, Python/R, Excel/VBA, Alteryx, or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to lead analytical engagements independently - from scoping and methodology design through to client delivery.
- Track record of translating complex quantitative analysis into clear, high-impact recommendations for senior stakeholders.
- Experience managing or mentoring junior team members in a professional setting.
- Excellent communication and client relationship skills; comfortable leading conversations with leadership level client contacts.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and deliver quality work.
Preferred
- Deep expertise in one or more life sciences commercial domains: launch analytics, patient analytics, market forecasting, field force optimization, pricing and access, or medical affairs analytics.
- Experience with secondary data sources common in pharma (IQVIA, Symphony Health, Komodo, APLD, or equivalent).
- Advanced proficiency in Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI for client-facing dashboards and tools.
- BE/BTech/BS in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
- MTech/MS in Statistics, Data Science, or MBA from a reputable institution is a strong plus.
- What Success Looks Like in This Role
A strong Consultant at BMI will
- Be trusted by clients to lead the analytical conversation - and by BMI leadership to scope, staff, and deliver engagements with minimal oversight.
- Consistently deliver findings that challenge comfortable assumptions and earn client respect for the quality and integrity of BMI's work.
- Be known internally as someone who elevates the analytical bar - always asking the next question, always pushing for a deeper answer.
- Have a direct, positive impact on at least one junior team member's growth — measured not by output volume, but by the quality of their thinking.
Why Blue Matter
- Lead high-stakes analytics engagements that directly influence commercialization decisions for therapies in oncology, rare diseases, immunology, and beyond.
- Operate as a trusted partner. BMI's client relationships are deep, long-term, and built on the quality of our thinking.
- Shape the next generation of BMI talent: Consultants are coaches, not just contributors.
- Clear path to Lead and Partner — merit-driven, transparent, and fast for those who exemplify the BMI values.
