Summary
The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board’s Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market.
Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board’s internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship.
Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.
About the Division and Section/Team
The Application Design and Development (ADD) section in the division of Research and Statistics (R&S) is an enthusiastic team of UX designers and software engineers that design, develop and support solutions that enable the economic research, analysis, and policy work of the Federal Reserve Board.
About the Role
ADD is looking for an intern to work with our team of SharePoint Developers, UX Designers, and Product Managers to help develop simple and complex applications that support collaborative document management and communications practices.
As an intern, you'll develop SharePoint Online solutions using both out-of-the-box tools and custom coding in front-end and back-end programming languages and frameworks including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, React JS, SPFx, Handlebars, PowerShell, Bootstrap, and Fluent UI. You'll have the opportunity to leverage modern AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code to accelerate development and generate reusable SharePoint components and solutions.
A key focus will be designing and building SharePoint Online collaboration sites that replicate and improve upon content and functionality currently hosted on Drupal, in line with defined design and technical specifications. Throughout all projects, you'll write high-quality code that satisfies customer needs and strives for simplicity, clarity, and testability.
The intern will work on a cross-functional team and have an opportunity to learn the agile methodology as well as best practices for developing on low-code/no-code platforms like SharePoint Online. You'll also interact with stakeholders to gather business needs and translate those needs into application requirements.
