Brickeye Construction

Accounting Manager

Toronto, Canada In person Full-time

About Brickeye Brickeye leverages the power of data from construction to drive risk mitigation and productivity gains. We are a fast-growing construction technology company developing the world’s most advanced IoT-based risk mitigation platform for water damage mitigation, concrete quality / defect control, and real-time site intelligence. We protect construction projects from avoidable loss, reduce the total cost of risk, and help asset owners, general contractors, and insurers deliver projects on time and on budget.

The Challenge Brickeye’s finances are more complex than a typical startup’s. We ship physical hardware and sell software, so every month’s numbers include inventory, subscription revenue and project-based contracts sold to several types of customers. As we scale, that complexity grows faster than headcount. Investors, lenders and auditors expect numbers that are accurate, on time and defensible. Leadership needs those numbers fast enough to make decisions.

A close that depends on manual work, spreadsheets and a few people’s memory can’t keep up for long. The Accounting Manager is the person who fixes that. Reporting directly to our CFO, you’ll own accounting end to end, from the close and controls to inventory, audit and tax. You’ll lead a small team that punches well above its size because AI and automation are built into how it works. This role suits someone who sees a messy process and wants to rebuild it rather than patch it, and who wants the systems, standards and team to carry their fingerprints. 🧭 Core Responsibilities Own the month-end, quarter-end and year-end close, delivering accurate, timely financial statements and a close process that gets faster and cleaner every cycle Lead and develop a small accounting team, setting priorities, reviewing work, and coaching people toward greater ownership and judgment Build an AI-forward accounting function, finding and rolling out automation, AI tools and system improvements that remove manual work from AP, AR, reconciliations and reporting Manage Payroll across both Canada and the U.S.
