Operations Finance Controller – BAT, Malmö
About the role
We're looking for a driven finance professional to join our Operations Finance team at BAT. You'll be at the centre of our month-end and budget cycles. You'll make sure our books are accurate, our numbers are explained, and our stakeholders have the insight they need to make decisions. If you like owning results, challenging the way things are done and working in a fast-moving FMCG environment, this role is for you.
What you'll do
- Act as the trusted finance business partner to Production, QA, Logistics and other plant functions.
- Turn the monthly P&L into a clear narrative of drivers, actuals versus forecast, and recommended actions for plant leadership.
- Analyse manufacturing cost every month, explain what moves it, and challenge where performance can improve.
- Take an active role in cost-saving workshops, helping to turn ideas into quantified, tracked savings.
- Lead the WOFF process, with monthly monitoring and coordination of the meetings that keep the business aligned.
- Support the P&L, Balance Sheet and Indirect Cash Flow for each budget and forecast cycle (SOP4, SOP10 and CoPlan). This includes OPEX and CAPEX forecasts from every department.
- Guide investment decisions through disciplined fixed asset management: AUC, capitalisations, impairments, disposals and scrapping.
- Support and confirm month-end and year-end close (General Ledger checks, inter-company recharge accounts, ML closure, cost allocation per defined rules)
- Prepare and send master data requests (creating and changing cost centres and WBSs)
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual accruals and submit JVU requests for posting, including bookkeeping adjustments
- Calculate and reconcile all recharges between Malmö and other BAT entities
- Check and clear open items on accrual-related GL accounts
- Help prepare documents and reports for internal and external audits and for tax audits
What you bring
- A degree and a professional finance qualification
- Experience (1-3 years) in FMCG or a similarly dynamic operating environment
- Experience working with stakeholders, and strong financial business skills
- A thorough understanding of finance tools and systems, especially Excel (BPC, SAP and BI are highly desirable)
- Rational, analytical and systematic problem-solving, with the ability to handle large volumes of information and present it accurately and clearly
- The ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- An organised way of working, thinking and communicating
- Fluent spoken and written English
- A holistic view of the business (for example supply chain or marketing) is an advantage
