The Opportunity
CACI is seeking a creative and collaborative individual with strong writing and editing skills and a head for military hardware to join our team for a multi-tenant system for which we produce both the hardware and software. While you will be surrounded with a team of people (many of whom have been on this program in excess of 15 years) whether you work full-time in the Sterling, VA office or the Sarasota, FL office, this position requires a self-starter who can prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with very little supervision.
The job is 2/3 working independently, 1/3 working with Systems Engineers and other team members located mostly in Sarasota. Internal and external stakeholder collaboration is key to your success. You will need to manage a high volume of complex government documentation and regulatory compliance within strict timeframes. You must have a strong ability to successfully absorb urgent, short-notice tasks while maintaining momentum and meeting deadlines on long-term project deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Responsible Engineer for each project to complete the System Installation Standards technical volumes; this requires gathering detailed information from our engineering files in SharePoint and Confluence
- Communicate with the various teams on the program (Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, Security, etc.) to update and improve our User Guide and governance documents such as the Configuration Management Plan and Standard Operating Procedures
- Review and revise all programmatic submissions to our Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) to ensure they are succinct, coherent, grammatically accurate and visually appealing
- Ensure written products have good structure, clarity, and narrative flow; uphold writing standards for the written products going to the customers
- Become the classification SME on our program
- Coach our newer Project Managers regarding the development of best documentation practices and procedures to help them achieve project success
- Develop graphics, tables, and other visual representations of programmatic information to highlight key information
- Provide copyediting for any document we produce, whether from our team or another team outside of our immediate job area (we are a matrixed team)
- Work with the Test Engineer to complete the sell-off documentation
- Be an integral member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) for each tenant’s system recap or new deployment, ensuring system is ready for customer-witnessed accepted tests and deployment
- Maintain a current internal documentation library (SharePoint)
- Manage the access rolls for our various documentation sharing websites.
Qualifications
Required
- Active TS/SCI clearance and an ability to pass a polygraph
- 4-year college degree from an accredited college or university and 6+ years of heavy writing experience while working with US Military customers or 8+ years in the Intelligence Community with heavy writing experience; a Master’s Degree may be substituted for two (2) years of experience.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills including impeccable grammar and spelling
- Strong editing skills
- Initiative to expand technical and soft skills
- Deadline oriented; excels at self-direction to figure out what needs to be done and by when
- Adaptability to a fast-paced environment which has occasional, brief slow periods
- Solid MS Office tools knowledge, especially Word and PowerPoint (Visio, Excel, Teams, and basic Adobe Acrobat Pro skills are desirable).
Desired
- Experience using Atlassian tools for project management (Jira, Confluence)
- Agile and SCRUM methodology
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and flow charts
- An eye for layout/design and color
- Experience with USG contracts and the constraints within
- Familiarity with military logistics
- IT or networking experience.
