What You’ll Do
In this 6-month contract, as the Specialist, Merch Data Governance, you will help ensure product data remains accurate and flows reliably across critical business systems. You will manage daily operations, database runs, reporting, and the team mailbox while building the technical skills to investigate issues and support the modernization of our product data platforms. This hands-on role provides a clear path from operational execution to analysis.
Run daily operations – execute scheduled database processes, data extracts and uploads across systems, and flag opportunities to improve them.
Own the team mailbox – monitor, prioritize, assign and respond to a high volume of requests, escalating complex items using documented scenarios.
Investigate and resolve – triage data and process issues using logical if/else steps, isolate problems in databases, identify root causes, and raise tickets to IT when needed.
Pull and present data – query source systems and turn results into clear observations and summaries that support decisions.
Support modernization – help transition processes and knowledge into new product data platforms.
What You Bring
- A technical inclination – you are comfortable with basic logic (if/else conditions) and enjoy figuring out how systems and data connect.
- Hands-on proficiency in Excel and data manipulation is required.
- Comfort using AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot to make sense of legacy databases, processes and documentation.
- Proven ability to juggle competing priorities, follow documented procedures precisely, and coordinate across cross-banner teams (CTR / FGL / Mark’s).
- A problem-solver who stays flexible in the face of change and ambiguity.
- Experience writing SQL queries and working with Microsoft Access databases is an asset.
- Exposure to merchandising or master data systems such as IMS, MDM / Syndigo / Stibo STEP, or iHub (Asset)
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools such as Power Automate or PowerApps. (Asset)
Why this role
Broad exposure – you will work across merchandising, IT and multiple banners
Room to grow – the role is built to evolve from operational execution into analysis and project work as your skills develop.
Real modernization work – you will help shape the platforms and processes the business will rely on next.
