We leverage the latest technology innovations and proven approaches to better serve the mission and support the DHS, DOJ, and DoW workforce, customers, and programs, regardless of scale or complexity. ITC is located in Fairfax, VA and offers outstanding compensation and benefits plan and a challenging and rewarding professional work environment.
ITC is seeking a Senior ServiceNow Developer to design, build, and deploy ServiceNow solutions for our federal agency clients. This role owns complex builds from requirements through rollout—custom applications, Service Catalog items, Flow Designer automations, IntegrationHub integrations, and the server- and client-side scripting underneath them—with the judgment to recognize when well-configured baseline functionality is a better answer than another custom script.
The Senior ServiceNow Developer sets and enforces development standards, mentors other developers, leads peer reviews, and represents technical solutions in client-facing design discussions, keeping the instance clean, upgradeable, and maintainable long after go-live.
Build & Configure
- Design, develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow configurations, custom applications, and automated workflows.
- Write and maintain server-side and client-side JavaScript using Glide APIs, Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, and ACLs.
- Favor configuration over customization, keeping the instance upgradeable and avoiding custom scripts that create long-term technical debt.
Service Catalog & Workflow Automation
- Build advanced Service Catalog items, including catalog client scripts, UI policies, variable sets, and record producers.
- Design and build Flow Designer automations that are readable and maintainable by developers who did not build them.
- Deliver request experiences that end users adopt willingly rather than work around.
ITSM Platform
Support ongoing improvement and optimization of core ITSM modules, including Incident, Problem, Change, Request, and Knowledge Management.
Partner with business analysts and platform administrators on process design, advising when a requested configuration will create risk in future releases.
Integrations
Design and implement integrations with third-party systems using REST and SOAP web services and IntegrationHub.
Build the transforms, error handling, and retry logic that keep integrations reliable and supportable over time.
Quality, Release & Compliance
- Execute unit, integration, and regression testing, including Automated Test Framework (ATF) coverage, with the goal of clean deployments.
- Maintain update sets, release documentation, and technical design records so every release can be explained and, if necessary, reversed.
- Identify risks, dependencies, and design gaps early in the development lifecycle, when they are still inexpensive to fix.
- Ensure solutions meet federal IT standards, including Section 508 accessibility and FISMA/NIST security controls.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship
- Mentor developers and promote ServiceNow development best practices across the delivery team.
- Set and enforce development standards, and lead code reviews, peer reviews, release management support, and governance and compliance checks.
- Participate in client calls and technical design discussions, translating business requirements into clear, actionable technical solutions.
REQUIRED
- 6+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development and configuration experience, including experience guiding or mentoring other developers.
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited University, required.
- Strong platform scripting skills, including server-side and client-side JavaScript, Glide APIs, Business Rules, and Script Includes.
- Experience building Service Catalog items, workflows or Flow Designer automations, and integrations using REST, SOAP, and IntegrationHub.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex builds from requirements through rollout.
- A track record of setting or enforcing development standards on a team and representing technical solutions in client-facing discussions.
- Demonstrated experience delivering in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and across technical and functional teams.
- ServiceNow Certified Application Developer (CAD) certification, required.
- At least one ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certification, required (CIS-ITSM preferred).
PREFERRED
- Hands-on proficiency with the ServiceNow Automated Test Framework (ATF).
- Experience with release coordination, version control, and automated testing strategies.
- Prior experience supporting federal or defense contracting environments.
- Experience with Service Portal, UI Builder, or the Now Experience framework.
- Development experience outside ServiceNow, including JavaScript, REST and SOAP integrations, or other platforms.
- Working knowledge of ITSM, IT asset and configuration management, and ITIL practices.
- Additional ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) certifications (e.g., ITSM, CSM, or other tracks).
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS
Must have, at minimum, an active Interim Secret security clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a final Secret clearance.
U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of this government contract.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is a fully remote position within the U.S. Candidate must be available during East Coast business hours for client workshops and stakeholder sessions; occasional travel may be required for major planning events. No relocation or office reporting is expected.
