We are looking for a Product Manager to own Clinical Document Workflow and Clinical Document Transfer (formerly Docman GP and Docman Connect) two established products at the heart of how clinical correspondence flows into and between NHS care settings. Clinical Document Workflow is the tool that GP practices use to process, code and file the hundreds of clinical documents they receive each day. Clinical Document Transfer moves that correspondence securely from secondary care into GP systems, reaching the vast majority of practices in England.
These are trusted, widely deployed products where reliability and clinical safety are non-negotiable, and there is real scope to modernise them and connect them into the wider neighbourhood health direction.
This is a role for someone who can protect a mission-critical core while moving it forward. Three things make it stand out:
Trusted at scale. Own products used across most GP practices in England, where reliability and clinical safety come first.
Documents that move care forward. Shape how clinical correspondence flows securely between care settings and files accurately into the patient record.
Modernise the core. Take established technology and evolve it in step with IQ Health and the neighbourhood health direction.
What You Will Do
- Own the roadmap and delivery for Clinical Document Workflow and Clinical Document Transfer.
- Keep these products reliable, secure and clinically safe for the large base of NHS practices and trusts that depend on them.
- Shape how clinical correspondence flows between care settings, improving speed, accuracy and interoperability while reducing manual handling.
- Improve how documents are matched to patients, coded and filed into the clinical record, working with the clinical team.
- Modernise established technology in step with the wider IQ Health platform.
- Position Docman within the neighbourhood health direction, joining it up with the rest of the portfolio.
- Run your own user research with practice staff and clinicians to understand real document workflows.
- Write clear, precise PRDs in an AI enabled SDLC and prioritise using objective data on usage, value and risk.
- Support MDR and clinical safety obligations, including DCB0129 and DCB0160, given clinical correspondence carries direct patient-safety implications.
- Bring market and competitive insight on primary care document management and interoperability, and contribute to commercial planning and bookings.
What You Will Have
- Product management experience owning products end to end.
- Experience with established or mission-critical software at scale, where reliability and safety matter.
- Genuine user research competence, able to plan and run your own studies.
- Strong requirements and prioritisation discipline, comfortable making decisions with data.
- Confidence working directly with clinicians and practice staff.
- Health IT, primary care or wider NHS context is a strong advantage.
AI And Modern Ways Of Working
- A clear view on where AI can help with document management, such as classification, summarisation, coding and routing of clinical correspondence, and where it introduces risk.
- Strong on evaluation and testing of AI outputs, given a misclassified or mis-coded document is a patient-safety risk.
- A sound grasp of responsible AI in a clinical setting, including accuracy, safety and appropriate reliance.
- Fluent using AI tooling to raise your own pace and quality, and able to write requirements precise enough for an AI-assisted build.
Ideally, You Will Also Have
- Familiarity with NHS primary care document workflows, clinical correspondence or transfer of care.
- Experience with interoperability standards such as GP Connect, MESH, CDA or FHIR.
- Experience modernising legacy or heritage products without disrupting the customers who rely on them.
- What Success Looks Like In Your First Year
- A clear, credible roadmap for Clinical Document Workflow and Clinical Document Transfer that balances reliability with modernisation.
- Measurable improvement in how documents flow between care settings and file into the record.
- Docman visibly positioned within the neighbourhood health and IQ Health direction.
- Research with practice staff routinely shaping decisions.
- Please note, applicants must have the legal right to work in the UK at the time of application.
