Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

We’re looking for a strategic, business-minded HR leader who can translate business priorities into a people strategy that delivers results for the Resource Industries Operations and Products division.

This is not a role that simply executes HR programs. You’ll sit alongside senior leaders as a trusted advisor, coach and thought partner, helping shape the organization, strengthen leadership capability, build the talent pipeline and create an environment where people and the business can perform at their best.

If you’re energized by complexity, comfortable challenging the status quo, and know how to move between strategy and execution, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What You Will Do

Shape the people strategy

Partner with senior leaders to understand where the business is going and build HR strategies that help get it there. You’ll connect talent, organization, culture and workforce priorities directly to business outcomes.

Be a trusted advisor and courageous coach

Provide candid, thoughtful counsel to leaders on organization effectiveness, talent, performance, succession, compensation, employee engagement and complex people decisions. You’ll know when to challenge, when to listen and how to influence without relying on authority.

Build the next generation of talent

Create strong talent pipelines, accelerate development of high-potential employees and leaders, strengthen succession plans, and help ensure we have the capabilities needed for today and tomorrow.

Lead through change

Help leaders and employees navigate transformation with clarity and purpose. You’ll anticipate the people implications of business decisions and develop practical change strategies that turn plans into action.

Turn insights into action.

Use workforce data, business metrics and employee insights to spot trends, identify risks and opportunities, and tell a compelling story that enables better decisions.

Create an environment where people can perform.

Champion an inclusive, accountable and high-performing culture where employees understand what matters, leaders set clear expectations, and teams are engaged in delivering results.

Lead and develop a strong HR team.

Build capability across the HR organization, develop HR leaders and foster strong partnership across HR Centers of Excellence. You’ll raise expectations for what great HR partnership looks like.

What You Will Have

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience desired

Business Acumen: Knowledge of business concepts, tools, and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the context of the company's business; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

Global Perspective: Knowledge of issues, opportunities, and challenges for conducting business in the international marketplace; ability to apply global perspectives appropriately in a wide range of situations.

Knowledge of Organization: Knowledge of the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.

Human Resources Consulting: Knowledge of HR approaches, tools and techniques; ability to inform, guide and advise managers in HR-related initiatives.

Talent Management : Knowledge of how an organization attracts, recruits, retains, identifies and develops talent; ability to develop the talent required for an organization to achieve its short-term and long-term goals.
