Application Stability and Service Manager - Vice President

Pune, India Hybrid Full-time

Location: Pune Maharashtra India

Job Summary

We are seeking an accomplished, highly technical, and strategic Vice President (VP – C13) to serve as the Application Stability & Production Service Manager for our mission-critical Liquidity Reporting and Secured Financing platform suite.

In this senior role, you will hold end-to-end accountability for platform availability, operational resilience, and proactive service management across complex enterprise architectures spanning Unix/Linux, Enterprise Relational Databases (Oracle / MSSQL), and Enterprise Big Data ecosystems (Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Kafka).

Unlike hands-on operational L1/L2 triage support, this role focuses on senior technical service ownership: driving systemic stability, leading high-impact incident post-mortems, governing change, and release risks, managing infrastructure capacity, and eliminating recurring operational risk and technical debt. You will partner directly with Senior Business Heads, Enterprise Architects, Core Engineering Leads, and Infrastructure Operations to deliver resilient, zero-surprise operations for high-visibility regulatory and business workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Platform Stability & Service Management

Act as the single point of accountability for overall platform health, stability, and service-level achievement (SLAs/KPIs) across global Liquidity Reporting, Collateral, Secured Financing, Derivatives, Sources & Uses, and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP) platforms.

Establish comprehensive health telemetry, proactive monitoring architectures (e.g., ITRS Geneos, AppDynamics, Grafana, Splunk), and early-warning tripwires to detect batch delays and data processing degradation before business or regulatory impact occurs.

Drive structured stability programs by analyzing multi-month incident trends, batch bottleneck patterns, and infrastructure friction across distributed data platforms.

  • Major Incident Leadership, RCA & Problem Management

Serve as the senior technical escalation leader during critical service disruptions (Sev 1 / Sev 2), orchestrating cross-functional engineering, infrastructure, and operations teams toward rapid service restoration.

Lead end-to-end Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Post-Incident Reviews (PIR), partnering with development managers to ensure preventative remediation actions and architectural fixes are prioritized in development sprints.

Champion rigorous Problem Management lifecycle processes, ensuring underlying technical root causes are permanently resolved rather than relying on recurring operational workarounds.

  • Change, Release & Operational Risk Governance
  • Lead operational readiness and stability gating for major production releases, data pipeline upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
  • Conduct technical risk evaluations of complex changes—including SQL/Stored Procedures, Autosys job dependency chains, and Spark/Hadoop execution parameters—to prevent release-induced production failures.
  • Direct operational resiliency exercises, including Continuity of Business (COB) / Disaster Recovery (DR) testing, cross-data center failover validations, and resiliency drills.
  • Data Pipeline Health, Capacity & Performance Governance

Partner with Core Engineering, DBA, and Big Data platform administrators on query execution plans, indexing strategies, Spark cluster configuration, and data lifecycle management.

Ensure end-to-end batch SLA compliance for critical data flows—from upstream trade feeds (Securities, Financing, Derivatives) through transformation engines to downstream regulatory and liquidity reporting outputs.

Identify continuous service improvement (CSI) initiatives, driving workflow automation, health checks, and process enhancements across the production ecosystem.

  • Stakeholder Management & Governance Reporting

Serve as the trusted technical stability advisor to Senior Business Executives, Operations Leaders, Internal/External Audit, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk teams.

Deliver executive-level transparency through stability scorecards, service health dashboards, operational risk metrics, and audit response packages.

Required Qualifications & Competencies

Experience & Education

Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:12+ years of progressive experience in Information Technology within Financial Services, Investment Banking, or FinTech, with demonstrated leadership in Application Stability Management, Production Management, or Technical Service Delivery.

Technical Acumen

Enterprise Databases & SQL: Strong architectural and diagnostic knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL, Oracle), Stored Procedures, index optimization, query execution plan analysis, and ETL processes (SSIS/SSRS).

Big Data & Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of data pipelines and processing architectures across Hadoop ecosystems (HDFS, Hive, Spark) and message brokers (Kafka, IBM MQ).

Operating Systems & Job Scheduling: Advanced knowledge of Unix/Linux environments, shell scripting/Python automation, and enterprise job scheduling topologies (Autosys).

Monitoring & Telemetry: Proven track record implementing or governing enterprise application performance monitoring (APM) and alerting tools (e.g., ITRS Geneos, Splunk, AppDynamics, Dynatrace, Grafana).

Infrastructure Architecture: Strong working knowledge of enterprise infrastructure topologies, high-availability setups, network connectivity, storage, and containerized deployment concepts (Docker/Kubernetes/OpenShift).

Domain Knowledge

  • Deep domain understanding of Capital Markets / Investment Banking, including:
  • Secured Financing, Repo, Securities Lending, and Prime Brokerage
  • Liquidity Management & Regulatory Reporting (e.g., LCR, NSFR, FR2052a, Intraday Liquidity)
  • Financial instruments & trade lifecycle across Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Rates
  • Standard financial identifiers (CUSIP, ISIN, RIC) and front-to-back trade/cash flow lifecycles

Leadership & Governance

  • Proven crisis management capabilities with the ability to lead high-pressure incident calls and articulate complex technical scenarios to executive audiences.
  • In-depth mastery of ITIL service management frameworks (Incident, Problem, Change, Capacity, Availability, and Release Management).
  • Strong track record of instilling operational discipline and proactive service management practices across multi-regional teams.
