2016-03-28: We are building a Zoho Creator app to help us manage our sales rep firm. I need someone to evaluate what I've done so far to make sure we're on track, and to coach me on some concepts and techniques so I can get up to speed more quickly. I'd like to set up a couple of hourly sessions via web and phone.
I am generally familiar with database design, having worked extensively in MS Access desktop applications and a bit with Access web apps, so I am not a raw beginnger, but I'm pretty new to Zoho Creator.
On this Zoho Creator project I have set up the basic framework of forms to get started. As a manufacturer's rep firm, our clients are the vendors who sell products to retailers. Those retailers are really the client's customers, but we treat them as our own customers. We are paid commissions, based on sales of the vendors' products to those customers, so we have to track products by vendors, purchase orders, and shipments. Fairly straightforward order management, but with a twist, since we are not selling our own products, and because we represent multiple clients selling to multiple customers.
Before I work on this much more I'd like an experienced Zoho pro to see what I've done and guide me with any suggested fundamental changes before we get too far into things.
We are a small business, and I want to be able to manage this app myself, with occasional expert support if needed. So in addition to good design, I want to keep this fairly simple.
My guru will have a solid understanding of the best way to set up tables for normalization and so I can build the needed reports. One fundamental question is whether to track Line Items (the products, prices and order quantities on a purchase order) on a separate Line Items table, or if the subform functionality of Zoho Creator should be used.
Also I could use some help to more quickly understand some skills, including query design, reports, totaling subform values, and auto-populating data on forms using lookups.
