Company Overview
CORE POWER was founded in 2018 to address the world's energy challenges by delivering abundant ship-based power to the industries and economies driving global prosperity. We build, integrate and deploy ship-based nuclear energy systems: moored floating nuclear power plants, nuclear-powered commercial ships, and the industrial capability needed to manufacture and support both. Headquartered in London, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Tokyo, we are a growing company working to establish a new global industry.
Role Summary
The Operations Analyst works directly with the Chief Operating Officer (COO) as a trusted coordination and execution-support partner within the COO Office. The post ensures the COO is well briefed, priorities are organised, decisions are recorded and agreed actions are actively followed up to completion.
The COO is a member of the Executive Committee and oversees Government Affairs, Regulatory & Licensing, Communications & Outreach, Human Resources, Information Technology and the Program Management Office (PMO). The Operations Analyst maintains an accurate, forward-looking view of commitments, deadlines, risks and dependencies across this portfolio, working closely with functional leaders and colleagues across CORE POWER’s international offices.
This is not a traditional executive assistant or functional management role. It requires the judgement to anticipate what the COO needs, the confidence to secure updates and challenge slippage constructively, and the discipline to escalate matters at the right time.
Key Responsibilities
- COO Priorities, Operating Rhythm, Meetings and Projects
- Maintain the COO’s integrated priorities, forward agenda, operating calendar and review cadence, ensuring attention is directed to time-critical decisions, milestones and external commitments.
- Prepare agendas, briefing packs, pre-reads and decision points for COO-led meetings, including executive, senior leadership and portfolio reviews.
- Anticipate information needs and provide concise priority summaries on what requires the COO’s attention.
- Coordinate the COO’s participation in leadership and Board processes, ensuring submissions within the COO remit are accurate, consistent, and delivered to deadline.
- Action Management, Follow-Up and Delivery Assurance
- Own and maintain a single, reliable COO action and decision log recording each commitment, accountable owner, deadline, status, dependency, next step and evidence of closure.
- Follow up with action owners across functions, test whether commitments are on track and maintain momentum until actions are closed.
- Flag overdue or at-risk items early, distinguish routine delays from material delivery risks, and escalate blockers and decisions required to the COO with options and supporting facts.
- Produce concise exception-based status reports highlighting what has changed, what is slipping, where cross-functional support is required and what the COO needs to decide.
- Cross-Functional Coordination and Program Visibility
- Act as a central coordination point between the COO and leaders across Government Affairs, Regulatory & Licensing, Communications & Outreach, HR, IT and the PMO.
- Track milestones, dependencies, risks and decisions relevant to the COO portfolio, drawing on PMO and functional reporting without duplicating accountable teams’ ownership or systems.
- Coordinate short, delegated cross-functional initiatives, bringing together inputs, clarifying next steps and following through on agreed deliverables.
- Build constructive working relationships with teams in London, Washington, D.C. and Tokyo.
- Briefings, Correspondence and Stakeholder Engagement
- Draft succinct briefings, speaking notes, correspondence, meeting summaries and short decision papers for the COO, using verified information and clear recommendations or asks.
- Prepare the COO for internal and external engagements with government bodies, regulators, partners, advisers and industry organisations; coordinate relevant briefing, logistics and follow-up.
- Capture stakeholder commitments and maintain appropriate engagement records.
- Undertake focused research and synthesise policy, organisational or operational information as requested, distinguishing established facts from emerging issues.
- Information Management, Governance and Improvement
- Maintain accurate trackers, dashboards, decision records, briefing materials and correspondence in approved systems, applying document control, confidentiality and retention conventions.
- Identify recurring weaknesses in meeting discipline, hand-offs, reporting or action closure; propose and implement proportionate improvements agreed with the COO.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an exceptionally organised, proactive and discreet professional who combines clear writing and analytical thinking with the confidence to follow up with senior colleagues.
Experience
- Typically, 3–5 years’ relevant experience in an executive office, private office, operations, program coordination, consultancy, government, Parliament or another fast-paced professional environment.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating senior-level meetings, preparing high-quality briefings and papers, and maintaining action trackers or delivery plans relied upon by others.
- Experience working with confidential information and senior internal or external stakeholders; exposure to regulated, international, energy, maritime or public-policy environments is advantageous.
- A degree or equivalent relevant experience, and the right to work in the United Kingdom.
Skills and Capability
- Outstanding organisation, prioritisation and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing deadlines and maintain an accurate overview of many moving parts.
- Strong written communication: able to turn complex or incomplete inputs into concise briefings, decision notes and action-oriented summaries.
- Confident and tactful stakeholder management, including the ability to seek commitments, chase updates and challenge slippage without overstepping authority.
- Sound judgement, discretion and political awareness – knows what to handle independently, what to verify and when to escalate.
- Analytical mindset, able to spot trends, inconsistencies, dependencies and emerging risks in status information.
- Advanced working proficiency in Microsoft 365 (particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams); comfortable with workflow and document management tools.
- Comfortable working in an AI-enabled workplace, using AI tools responsibly, checking their output and following company policy.
- Indicators of Success
- The COO has a dependable, current view of priorities, outstanding actions, decisions and emerging risks.
- Actions are assigned promptly, followed up consistently and closed with clear evidence; material slippage is escalated early.
- Meetings are well prepared, decisions are documented and follow-through is visible across the COO portfolio.
- Executive papers and briefings are accurate, concise, timely and appropriately controlled.
- Functional leaders experience effective coordination without confusion over their delivery accountability.
- Ways of Working
- Outcome-driven and accountable, seeing a piece of work through from question to finished product.
- Able to adapt to changing priorities and to work under pressure.
- Collaborative and resilient, able to maintain momentum in long-cycle, high-scrutiny work.
- Ready for the pace and personal ownership of a start-up, alongside the rigour a safety-critical industry demand.
- If you are interested in joining CORE POWER, please submit your CV and a cover letter by Friday, November 20th, outlining your experience and motivation to join our team!
