CDS Intern - IT Product Owner - Costco Travel

Costco Travel IT is a dynamic, fast-paced environment, working through exciting transformation efforts. We are building the next generation retail environment where you will be surrounded by dedicated and highly professional employees. The Costco Travel Technology Department is inviting students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a college or university to participate in a 12-week paid internship program during 2027.

Interns will work within specific areas in Costco Travel Technology Delivery groups. Interns will attend presentations given by various members of Executive Management from IT and other areas of the Company. At the end of the internship period, the intern will create and present a summary of their experience to their management and peers. Interns will be responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses. Housing is not provided.

The program runs mid-June to early September and is located in Issaquah, WA. No out of state work allowed. All interns are required to be in the office 5 days a week and must adhere to the CDS. Costco Travel Technology teams are leveraging modern enterprise programming languages, frameworks, and infrastructure to build innovative systems to aid Costco members in all their vacation planning needs. This team is responsible for partnering with the business and stakeholders to provide a technically robust application and experience with an emphasis on member service.

The Intern will collaborate with an agile delivery team to observe and support the implementation, measurement, and iterative learning process of product improvements. The Intern will support the execution of product features within the Costco Travel roadmap , learning how to align delivery with KPIs that integrate requirements from both internal and external stakeholders. NOTE: While participating in the IT Internship program, an individual will be classified as an hourly temporary employee for the duration of the program.

During the program, the individual may be asked to undergo the normal interview process for a level 1 position. If the individual is offered a position, they will be converted to the employment status matching open job they were selected for. If they are not selected for a regular position, the internship position will be complete in a maximum of twelve weeks. ROLE Works with stakeholders to identify solutions that support their business requirements. Works independently and within a team environment. Pays attention to detail, self motivated with the ability to follow instructions and completes assignments on time. Learns and applies new concepts, processes, and tools. Takes initiative to solve problems and multi-tasks by prioritizing projects and deadlines. Communicates effectively with team members, stakeholders, and all levels of management.

Articulates requirements for each user story with detailed acceptance criteria. Supports business strategy by forming a backlog of features and user stories for use by the delivery team. Creates a presentation to demo their work. REQUIRED Deep understanding of business requirements elicitation pursuant to specific programs/projects involved. Proficient in requirements gathering, business modeling, project scoping and use case creation.

Experience in utilizing standard documentation and backlog management tools/utilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Possess good organizational, time, and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize, and stay well organized. Currently maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Students currently enrolled in an IT or related undergraduate or graduate program at a community college, college or university.

Recommended Deadline oriented and capable of self-management. Strong work ethic, demonstrated attention to detail, excellent time management and organizational skills.
