Full-Stack Java Developer (Medior / Senior)

• Location: Brussels, Belgium / Nearshore Europe
• Employment type: Full-Time | Permanent Employment or B2B/Freelance
• We are currently looking for experienced Full-Stack Java Developers to strengthen the Cronos Europa team and contribute to long-term software development projects for one of our international clients.
• We are considering both onshore candidates based in Belgium and nearshore professionals based in Europe.
• This is a medior/senior-level opportunity for developers who enjoy building reliable, scalable enterprise applications, working with modern technologies and contributing to the full software development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop modern, responsive frontend applications using Angular or React.
• Design, implement and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and external systems.
• Contribute to software architecture decisions, including microservices and distributed systems.
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code, following software engineering best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, troubleshooting and performance optimisation.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, application deployments and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate closely with business analysts, architects, testers, product owners and other developers.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, technical discussions and continuous delivery activities.
• Support the maintenance and modernisation of existing applications while contributing to new developments.

Technical skills

• Java: Strong professional experience with Java, preferably Java 17 or higher.
• Backend: Spring Framework, Spring Boot, REST APIs, JPA/Hibernate and microservices.
• Frontend: Professional experience with Angular or React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML and CSS.
• Databases: Strong SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or equivalent.
• Cloud: Experience with Microsoft Azure is a strong advantage.
• DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git, Docker and Kubernetes.
• Testing: Experience with unit testing, integration testing and automated testing frameworks.
• Architecture: Understanding of modern software architecture, design patterns and clean-code principles.
• Methodologies: Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

Profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Java.
• Proven experience in both backend and frontend development.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within an international development team.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and attention to code quality.
• Experience developing and maintaining complex enterprise applications.
• Fluent English, both written and spoken, is mandatory.
• French is an advantage but not required.
• Proactive attitude, ownership and willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Working arrangements

We are recruiting for both onshore and nearshore collaboration models.

Onshore – Belgium

• Candidates must be based in Belgium and have valid authorisation to work in the country.
• Hybrid working arrangement, requiring approximately 50% on-site presence in Brussels.
• Permanent employment or B2B/freelance arrangements may be considered.

Nearshore – Europe

• Candidates must be based in Europe.
• Primarily remote working arrangement.
• Approximately 30 working days per year on-site in Brussels, typically organised as five consecutive working days every two months.
• Flexibility in scheduling on-site visits, subject to project requirements.
• Contract arrangements depend on the candidate's country of residence and available employment structures.
• Please note that the applicable on-site requirements are mandatory.
