The CrossBoundary team is a unique group made up of people who are genuinely excited by the opportunity to make a difference in some of the most challenging yet exciting markets in the world. Team members come from diverse backgrounds but share several qualities: curiosity, humility, integrity, a drive for excellence, and a bias for action.

CrossBoundary Advisory is recruiting a Senior Consultant to lead country engagement in Côte d’Ivoire for a multi-country blended finance platform focused on regenerative agriculture and landscape resilience. The assignment may expand to Ghana and Nigeria as the workplan develops and is supported by Green Climate Fund project preparation funding.

The consultant will lead government engagement, stakeholder consultation and outreach to the agricultural private-sector ecosystem. They will coordinate the landscape-selection process and development of landscape investment plans, identify early pipeline opportunities, and work alongside CrossBoundary’s investment and structuring team and consortium technical partners.

Who You Are

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience, including leading government, stakeholder and ecosystem engagement for agriculture, climate, natural-resource or private-sector development programmes.
  • Substantial in-country experience in Côte d’Ivoire, with established working relationships across government, the agricultural private sector and development partners.
  • Full professional fluency in French, written and spoken, and strong professional English.
  • Experience designing and leading multi-stakeholder consultations and workshops, including with producer organisations and local communities.
  • Strong understanding of agricultural value chains and enterprise ecosystems, including cooperatives, aggregators, SMEs and business-support organisations.
  • Excellent stakeholder-management skills and a track record securing government support for strategic initiatives.
  • High integrity, sound judgement and the ability to represent CrossBoundary with senior public- and private-sector stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently in a flexible, portfolio-style consulting arrangement and increase effort around workshops and deadlines.
  • Experience in Ghana or Nigeria is preferred.
  • Familiarity with GCF or other climate-fund processes, regenerative agriculture, landscape approaches, gender and social inclusion, or agricultural SME investment readiness is highly valued.

What You'll Do

  • Lead country engagement and execution across five connected workstreams:
  • Engage the National Designated Authority, line ministries and relevant sub-national authorities.
  • Support the process toward Funding Proposal no-objection letters and brief government technical committees.
  • Align the country approach with national climate, agriculture and land-use priorities.
  • Map stakeholders across government, private sector, producer organisations, civil society, development partners and local communities.
  • Design and lead inclusive national and landscape-level consultations and workshops.
  • Identify and engage agribusinesses, aggregators, cooperatives, input and service providers, local banks, microfinance institutions and development-finance actors.
  • Coordinate landscape selection, validation and development of landscape investment plans.
  • Identify investment opportunities in priority landscapes and value chains and assess their non-financial readiness.
  • Hand qualified opportunities to the investment team for financial screening and support follow-up engagement.
  • Maintain engagement records and provide short monthly activity and workplan reports.

Locations

The role is based in Côte d’Ivoire, preferably Abidjan, and will involve travel to priority landscapes and, if required, Ghana and Nigeria.

Contract and duration

Individual part-time consultancy, initially approximately 1.5-2.5 days per week, with the ability to flex upward around workshops, consultations and key deadlines. The assignment is expected to run for approximately 5-7 months or through mid-2027, with possible extension. Indicative rate: USD 600-800 per day, subject to final confirmation.
