POSITION SUMMARY

CVS Health is hiring a Principal AI/Automation Solutions Architect to join the AI/ML Solutions Delivery organization and drive the strategy, architecture, and adoption of enterprise-scale AI, automation, and agentic solutions. The Principal AI/Automation Solutions Architect serves as a senior technical leader and trusted advisor, acting as the critical connection between AI Platform Engineering teams and Product Delivery organizations. This role combines architecture leadership, consulting, solution design, and hands-on prototyping to translate platform capabilities into scalable business solutions while influencing the future direction of enterprise AI and automation platforms.

The Principal AI/Automation Solutions Architect will define and govern reusable architecture patterns supporting use cases such as intelligent automation, conversational AI, agentic data analytics, knowledge management, content generation, correlation and root cause analysis, and enterprise workflow orchestration. Working closely with AI Platform Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, IT Operations, and Product Delivery teams, this individual will ensure solutions are secure, resilient, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards while accelerating adoption of AI-powered capabilities across CVS Health.

The Principal AI/Automation Solutions Architect will influence architectural direction across multiple teams, provide technical leadership and mentorship, and help shape both solution and platform roadmaps without direct management responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Serve as the primary liaison between AI Platform Engineering teams and Product Delivery organizations, translating platform capabilities into production-ready solution architectures while bringing real-world delivery requirements back to influence platform roadmaps.

Define, validate, and maintain reusable architecture patterns, reference implementations, accelerators, and solution blueprints for automation workflows, conversational AI, agentic data analytics, knowledge management, content generation, correlation and root cause analysis, and other enterprise AI use cases.

Lead discovery sessions, architecture workshops, and hands-on prototyping efforts with business and technology stakeholders to evaluate opportunities, demonstrate technical feasibility, and transition solutions to delivery teams for production implementation.

Provide architectural governance through design reviews, standards enforcement, and advisory services while ensuring solutions incorporate security, privacy, resiliency, scalability, performance, compliance, responsible AI practices, and enterprise architecture principles.

Communicate architecture decisions, technical trade-offs, platform recommendations, and emerging technology trends to engineers, architects, business stakeholders, and senior leadership while mentoring engineers and architects across the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

10+ years of experience in solution architecture, software engineering, enterprise architecture, or technology consulting with demonstrated ownership of large-scale technical initiatives, architecture strategy, and enterprise-wide decision making.

Proven success over 9+ years architecting, prototyping, and guiding delivery of AI, machine learning, automation, or agentic AI solutions across multiple business domains and complex enterprise environments.

8+ years partnering with platform engineering organizations, product teams, and delivery teams to define reusable architecture patterns, accelerate solution adoption, and influence strategic technology roadmaps.

7+ years designing and governing architectures incorporating multi-agent orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), GraphRAG, memory frameworks, guardrails, evaluation frameworks, AI governance controls, and large language model integrations.

5+ years leading architecture reviews, technical governance processes, design standards initiatives, or enterprise decision-making forums while influencing cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Strong full-stack engineering background with the ability to build working prototypes, evaluate technical approaches, and define solution architectures across APIs, microservices, cloud-native applications, distributed systems, and interconnected platforms.

Experience with Google Vertex AI, Anthropic Claude, Azure AI, AWS AI services, ServiceNow AI, Databricks, and agent orchestration platforms such as Agent Development Kit (ADK), Mosaic AI, Agent Studio, or comparable technologies.

Knowledge of prompt engineering, context engineering, harness engineering, multi-agent architectures, semantic retrieval, vector databases, GraphRAG, evaluation frameworks, AI observability, model performance optimization, and enterprise AI design patterns.

Experience supporting healthcare, pharmacy, cybersecurity, IT Operations, AIOps, root cause analysis, or other highly regulated enterprise environments requiring strong governance, risk management, and compliance controls.

Demonstrated thought leadership, consulting expertise, and pragmatic technical judgment, including the ability to evaluate competing architectural approaches, communicate uncertainty and risk effectively, and select the most appropriate solution pattern whether AI-driven or traditional automation-based.

EDUCATION

Bachelor’s degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience).
