dida Technology/Software

Data Science Consultant (all genders) - Hybrid, Berlin/Frankfurt

Berlin, Germany Hybrid Full-time

Bringing ML research into practice dida develops custom machine learning software for the public sector, academia, and industry and enterprise clients, including Siemens, Deutsche Bahn, idealo, klöckner.i and Enpal. Our team combines scientific excellence with real-world business requirements and is committed to the conscious development of AI. Many of our industry projects start with a concept or evaluation workshop.

Together with the client’s decision-makers, we assess use cases and data availability and turn vague ideas into a concrete project roadmap. We are currently expanding this workshop format into a dedicated consulting offering. For this, we are looking for someone with hands-on data science experience and a track record in client projects who takes technical ownership in this early project phase. Your role: technical ownership in the concept phase You are dida’s technical voice in the phase where a project takes shape.

In the workshop, you sit at the table with the client’s business units and IT. You look at the data and assess what project scope is realistic. You work in tandem with our Sales and Account Management and align solution approaches and effort estimates with our ML Scientists, who take over the implementation of larger projects. Over time, you become dida’s technical face for individual industries. Your responsibilities Lead workshops on the technical side : You prepare the content of concept and evaluation workshops and run them together with Account Management.

Your part is the technical depth: you evaluate use cases based on the available data and assess feasibility. Dig into the data and build : You analyse client sample data in Python and build clickable prototypes or small demos that make workshop results tangible. For smaller projects, you also handle the implementation yourself. This share grows with the projects we win. Technical follow-up : You translate workshop results into a technical roadmap and own the technical part of the proposal, including effort estimation.

Support sales on the technical side : In discovery calls and on feasibility questions, you are the technical point of contact. Commercial responsibility for accounts, proposals, pricing and negotiations lies with Account Management. Develop our standards : You expand our workshop frameworks and templates, which we reuse with every new client. This role needs both sides: hands-on data science experience and experience in client projects, preferably from consulting.

In total, you bring 2 to 5 years of professional experience. Hands-on data science: You have worked with ML models in real projects and are confident in Python and working with databases. You can judge which method fits a use case and which data it needs, from classical ML to LLM-based approaches. Experience in client projects: You have delivered projects directly with clients and have prepared and facilitated meetings with business units and management yourself.

This could have been in consulting, at an IT or AI service provider, in a solutions or pre-sales role, or in applied research with industry partners. Education: Degree with excellent grades in a quantitative field, for example computer science, mathematics, physics, data science or engineering. Client presence: You are open and approachable and facilitate discussions with confidence. You explain technical content in a way that business units and IT can both follow.

Languages: You speak German at a business-fluent level (C2), as our workshops and proposals are mostly conducted in German. For internal collaboration, you need fluent English. Hands-on mentality: You try things out directly and enjoy building a first prototype quickly. Teamwork: You like working closely in a team. Sharing knowledge and giving direct feedback come naturally to you. Even if you don’t meet every point, we look forward to your application.

If you mainly want to develop or do research, one of our Machine Learning Scientist positions is probably a better fit. Building something new: You help build a young consulting offering from the ground up and see the impact of your work directly with the client. Team: Almost 40 people from different disciplines with a strong background in mathematics and physics, many of them with a PhD. Real AI projects: You get projects like anomaly detection on railway tracks for Deutsche Bahn or AI agents in industrial customer service off the ground.

You can find a selection of further projects here . We regularly receive awards for our work, including the AI for Earth Award from Microsoft. Short decision paths: Direct collaboration with the management team. Flexibility: Flexible working hours and hybrid or remote work, full-time or part-time. Location: Beautiful office with great coffee in Berlin-Kreuzberg near Moritzplatz. Frankfurt am Main is possible by arrangement, an office there is planned.

Many of our clients are based in southern and south-western Germany. Please include with your application: CV (required) Degree certificates (required) Transcripts of records, if available Project or code samples (optional)
