Software Principal Engineer

What you’ll achieve

As a Full Stack Software Engineer on our Global Product Compliance Engineering and Environment Affairs team in Jurong East, Singapore to build AI enabled digital solutions that drive real adoption and productivity.

This role sits within a highly cross functional environment, partnering closely with UX designers, AI/ML engineers, regulatory subject matter experts, and product stakeholders. This role requires strong engineering judgment, problem solving ability, and the ability to make sound technical decisions in an evolving product environment.

You will

Full Stack Development & Delivery

• Design, build, and maintain end to end full stack applications that support regulatory and compliance workflows
• Implement user facing features that integrate AI outputs, insights, or recommendations into real operational contexts
• Develop backend services, APIs, and data integrations that support scalable, secure, and maintainable systems
• Collaborate with UX designers to translate designs into high‑quality, usable implementations
• Work with backend and platform components to support scalable, secure workflows
• Contribute to building thin vertical slices and MVPs that allow teams to validate value early

AI Enabled Application Development

• Work closely with AI/ML engineers to integrate models and intelligent services into production applications
• Implement human in the loop workflows, review mechanisms, and override controls for AI assisted decisions
• Ensure AI outputs are surfaced in ways that are clear, auditable, and actionable for end users
• Handle error states, uncertainty, and failure modes appropriately in compliance critical environments
• Build user‑facing workflows that interact with AI‑driven and agent‑based systems, including review, intervention, and override capabilities
• Implement experiences for long‑running, multi‑step AI workflows, including progress visibility, error handling, and recovery
• Work with UX and AI teams to ensure agent behaviour is understandable, predictable, and controllable by users

Technical Decision Making & Problem Solving

• Analyze technical problems, articulate options, and recommend solutions with clear reasoning
• Identify engineering trade offs, risks, and constraints when making design and implementation decisions
• Select, evaluate, and evolve tools, frameworks, and libraries needed to build the product
• Troubleshoot complex issues across the stack and drive issues to resolution

Engineering Excellence

• Develop and adhere to best practices, including clean code, maintainable architectures, and sensible dependency management
• Avoid unnecessary or obscure dependencies and ensure libraries are kept up to date
• Participate in vulnerability patching and corrective maintenance as part of normal development
• Write unit tests and contribute to automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

Collaboration & Ways of Working

• Work within an Agile/Scrum team alongside product owners, UX designers, AI/ML engineers, and regulatory experts
• Partner closely with UX designers to translate designs and prototypes into high quality implementations
• Collaborate with platform, security, and enterprise IT teams to integrate with existing systems and standards
• Participate in design and technical discussions, contributing to architecture and implementation decisions

Quality, Security & Maintainability

• Write clean, testable, and maintainable code following good software engineering practices
• Ensure applications meet security, authentication, authorization, and auditability requirements
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment practices, and operational readiness
• Use logging, monitoring, and basic product analytics to support reliability and continuous improvement

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science with + 8 years relevant experience in Engineering, AI/ML, or related fields.
• Experience across both frontend and backend development.
• Proven experience building and delivering user facing applications, preferably in enterprise or internal tool environments
• Experience writing unit tests and contributing to automated testing practices. Familiarity with how modern cloud‑based systems work (deployment, services, environments).
• Experience working with modern frontend and backend technologies (e.g. React, Angular, Vue, Python, Java, Go, Node.js, REST APIs)
• (specific stacks are flexible and expected to evolve)
• Experience integrating with external services, data sources, or AI/ML systems. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development practices and working in cross functional teams. Strong problem solving skills and comfort working in ambiguous, evolving problem spaces
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and engineers to deliver high quality solutions. Strong communication skills and fluency in English

Desirable Requirements

• Experience building AI enabled, data driven, or decision support systems
• Exposure to regulatory, compliance, governance, or safety critical domains
• Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and audit logging in enterprise systems
• Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization, or modern deployment practices
• Experience working on 0 to 1 products or early stage platforms
• Knowledge on product compliance, Safety, EMC, Wireless, Telecom and Environmental (e.g. Energy, Material, ECO Labels, Accessibility, Repairability, Packaging and etc.) legislation programs will be plus.
