Your role

The NSW Government is determined to make NSW a place where everyone has access to safe and secure housing, and where experiences of homelessness are rare, brief and non-recurring.

Homes NSW is a division of the Department of Communities and Justice. It brings together the housing and homelessness functions of the Department of Communities and Justice, the NSW Land and Housing Corporation, Aboriginal Housing Office and key worker housing functions from across government all under one roof.

The Senior Project Officer plays a key role in keeping the Service Delivery & Assurance Hub (SDAH) organised, connected and running smoothly. Working closely with the Director, leadership team and Service Assurance team, you’ll coordinate business priorities, projects, planning and corporate services across the Hub. You’ll help keep actions on track, make sure important information gets where it needs to go, and support consistent and effective ways of working.

You’ll also be a key point of contact across SDAH for human resources, recruitment, work health and safety, learning and development, finance and communications. It’s a varied role requiring strong organisation, sound judgement and the ability to bring people, priorities and information together to support effective business outcomes.

What you’ll do

You’ll have a degree of autonomy in managing your workload, setting priorities and providing advice and recommendations. You’ll support the Director and leadership team by:

People, recruitment and onboarding— coordinate recruitment, vacancy management and development opportunities; support new starters through pre-commencement communication, induction and training; and maintain staffing establishments, budgets and leave coverage in line with legislative and procedural requirements.

Projects, reporting and correspondence— lead short-term projects and emerging priorities, including analysis of psychosocial risk assessments, People Matter Employee Survey results and other targeted initiatives; allocate reports and correspondence, and ensure Ministerial correspondence, Ombudsman enquiries, complaints, feedback and other matters are referred to the right teams and completed by due dates.

Executive and administrative support— coordinate and lead staff meetings, support managers and teams across SDAH, follow up key actions and information requirements, and support administration staff through training and monthly meetings.

Learning, safety and workplace support— coordinate annual training plans in consultation with staff; support access to FaST, Thrive and IPAA NSW programs; monitor completion of safety requirements and contractor incident investigations; administer Health and Safety meetings; and support appropriate First Aid Officer, Warden and Health and Safety Representative coverage across local offices.

Corporate services and systems— provide financial, building, IT equipment and SharePoint support, including raising purchase orders, processing payments, monitoring budgets, coordinating office repairs and stationery, ordering equipment for new starters, managing routine mobile device audits and facilitating device upgrades.
