Details of the role and how it fits into the team
Group Strategic Analytics (GSA) is part of Group Chief Operation Office (COO) which acts as the bridge between the Bank’s business and infrastructure functions to help deliver the efficiency, control, and transformation goals of the Bank.
You will work within the Global Strategic Analytics Team on model strategy and deployment of Transaction Monitoring. Your team delivers street leading models leveraging both qualitative and quantitative analytics on Deutsche Bank’s clients’ activities. To be successful in that role, you are familiar with the most recent data science methodologies and have a delivery-centric attitude, strong analytical skills, and a detail-oriented approach to breaking down complex matters into more understandable details. You will work in a collaborative global team and focus on people development and career growth.
The purpose of Transaction Monitoring Models is to identify and investigate unusual customer transactions and behavior, to understand if that activity is considered suspicious from a financial crime perspective, and to report that activity to the government. Reporting to the Regional Head of Transaction Control Strats, you will be responsible for improving, implementing, and maintaining the models for transaction monitoring. You will ensure that all relevant criminal risks, typologies, products, and services are properly monitored.
Your key responsibilities
You own the prototype-to-production lifecycle for TM models, including SDLC, testing, reproducible pipelines, and clear documentation. You translate typologies and red-flag requirements into robust features and scenarios using Python (numpy/pandas/scikit-learn/PySpark) and SQL.
You drive the TM data and modelling strategy in line with the global framework, partnering with Data Stewards/TDI to strengthen data lineage, quality, and controls (e.g., Collibra governance, issue logging, prioritization, and closure).
You build and evolve monitoring MI and model-health KPIs. You operate and continuously improve the Ongoing Performance Monitoring (OPM) process, run deep dives on data quality and stability, track remediation to closure, and present outcomes in governance forums.
You represent TM in data governance and standards forums, championing the Global Minimum TM Standards and TM Standards Oversight KOD. You clearly articulate data/model issues and decision paths.
You scale training, evaluation, and production with cloud and big-data tooling (e.g., GCP incl. GPU, Hadoop). You productionize efficient Spark/SQL dataflows on governed platforms.
You communicate results clearly using dashboards and governance-ready artifacts (e.g., for TMGC), translating technical outcomes into actionable insights.
Your skills and experiences
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Management, or a comparable qualification.
- You bring strong Python skills (e.g., numpy, pandas, scikit-learn, PySpark) for data manipulation and ML workflows, plus advanced SQL and experience working with relational databases at scale.
- You have expertise in machine learning (including deep and reinforcement learning), spanning model development, evaluation, deployment, and interpretability.
- You bring a strong foundation in probability, statistics, linear algebra, and optimization for rigorous analytical thinking.
- You have experience with cloud and big-data ecosystems (e.g., GCP, AWS, GPU computing, Hadoop) and data visualization to communicate insights effectively.
- You are fluent in German and English.
