Purpose of Position

Role Purpose

This is a critical strategic role within our Network Finance Team, operating across our Network of depots. You will serve as a financial expert, working closely with the Network Senior Finance Managers, the Regional Finance team & Network Leadership to spearhead specific, high-visibility projects. This is a dynamic position where your ability to develop strong relationships across the business will directly influence our national operational success.

This high-impact position is designed for a commercially astute leader who can translate complex financial data into actionable strategy, while simultaneously fostering a culture of high performance within a distributed team. As a dedicated financial leader, you will champion commercial integrity and operational excellence, ensuring that robust governance underpins our strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership: Own and deliver key business projects from inception to completion, working cross-functionally with Head Office and operational departments. Present findings and recommendations to senior business stakeholders.

Strategic Commercial Partnership: Act as a key advisor to the Head of Regions and Associate Director of Network, providing insight, identifying cost-saving levers and leading the implementation of Network-wide strategic initiatives.

Financial Leadership & Governance: Drive improvement & standardisation of financial processes, planning and forecasting across the Network to ensure robust, accurate and scalable reporting.

Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing team of qualified and non-qualified professionals. Foster an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and professional development.

Process Transformation: Review, challenge and redesign existing reporting processes to facilitate agile decision-making, introducing robust new controls where required

Collaborative Alignment: Work seamlessly alongside the wider Finance function to champion consistency and ensure we are all driven by "same goal" practices.

Operational Integration: Maintain "boots on the ground" knowledge by regularly attending operational shifts. This ensures you understand the underlying activities, challenges & cost drivers behind the numbers, allowing you to influence real performance

Fully Qualified Accountant: ACA, ACCA, or CIMA with a minimum of 3+ years post-qualified experience in a similar role

Strategic Business Partnering: Track record of influencing operational stakeholders. Confident presenting clear, simplified financial results to non-finance audiences to drive commercial decisions

Operational Curiosity: A genuine passion for understanding business operations. You move beyond the spreadsheet to understand the "why" behind the numbers.

Culture Add: Crucially, you bring a highly positive, ‘can-do’ attitude to the team

Technological Proficiency: Advanced working knowledge of the Google Reporting Suite and Microsoft Excel. Experience with BI or advanced reporting tools is highly desirable.

Full UK Driving Licence: A full driving licence, together with a willingness to undertake UK travel and stay away from home overnight when required.
