Junior Business Analyst Overview
HumanTouch is seeking a Junior Business Analyst to support discovery and requirements development for Government customers. You will help investigate operational challenges, analyze business processes, and turn stakeholder input into clear findings and requirements while developing your skills with guidance from a senior analyst.
General Description
The Junior Business Analyst works with a senior analyst, the Project Manager, and the project team to understand current operations and document business needs. This role requires curiosity, careful listening, and the ability to organize incomplete information, ask useful follow-up questions, and contribute substantive analysis and accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
Help develop interview questions and workshop materials, and adapt discovery templates with guidance from the senior analyst.
Participate in stakeholder discussions, asking follow-up questions to clarify processes, investigate inconsistencies, and uncover missing information. Organize findings, constraints, workarounds, and questions requiring follow-up.
Develop and update process maps showing activities, decision points, handoffs, responsibilities, and dependencies.
Research relevant policies, procedures, existing documentation, and other available sources. Analyze findings to identify themes, gaps, and potential causes of operational problems.
Draft findings, improvement opportunities, and business and system requirements for senior review, distinguishing supporting evidence from assumptions and open questions.
Check requirements for clarity, consistency, completeness, and alignment with source findings. Support stakeholder reviews to confirm that process maps and requirements reflect the business need, incorporating feedback and tracking open questions.
Use approved AI tools to improve the efficiency of assigned research, analysis, and documentation. Check AI-assisted outputs against source materials, correct inaccuracies, and raise uncertain findings for senior review while following applicable data-handling requirements.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Experience supporting Government customers or working with policy-driven operational processes. Familiarity with stakeholder interviews, requirements gathering, process-improvement activities, and process-mapping or collaborative documentation tools.
Work Experience Requirements
- Two or more years of relevant experience in business analysis, process improvement, or operational work involving analysis and documentation.
- Experience organizing information from discussions, documents, or other sources into clear written findings.
- Ability to document workflows and recognize unclear steps, missing information, or conflicting accounts.
- Research and problem-solving skills, including distinguishing documented facts from assumptions and drawing conclusions supported by evidence.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with customers and team members.
- Ability to complete assigned work, incorporate feedback, and raise questions when clarification or guidance is needed.
- Practical experience using AI tools to support analysis and documentation, with the ability to evaluate outputs, recognize unsupported claims, and perform the underlying analysis with senior guidance.
Education Requirements
A bachelor's degree in business, information systems, public administration, or a related field is preferred, not required. Candidates without a degree are encouraged to apply if their professional experience demonstrates the required analytical, research, and communication skills and they meet the work experience requirements.
