Eaton's Electrical Sector is seeking a General Manager, Life Safety & Distributed Power Infrastructure (LSDPI). The business is central to how we protect people and property, support resilient power and digital infrastructure, and create value in highly regulated markets.
The opportunity
We are seeking a commercially driven General Manager to lead and grow this sizeable, profitable portfolio. With direct P&L responsibility, the GM will work with product line strategy, marketing, engineering, and commercial leaders to determine where we invest, accelerate, modernise, expand or reshape the portfolio, comprising Emergency Lighting, Fire and Intrusion, North America Fire and Distributed Power Infrastructure (single-phase UPS and white-space products).
This is a senior leadership role with a clear strategic ambition to grow beyond $1bn revenue by 2030. The GM will lead 1500 people through ten direct reports and shape strategy across EMEA and globally, including operations in the United States and China. The role will combine direct leadership of Product Line Management, Marketing, Engineering and Operations with influence across the sales organisation, supply chain and quality. It carries full accountability for business performance and portfolio direction.
What you’ll do
Translate strategy into profitable growth
- Lead overall LSDPI strategy and execution, delivering profitable growth and market expansion across EMEA and global product lines.
- Build and execute long-term business plans aligned with divisional and regional priorities, with full P&L responsibility and delivery of financial targets.
- Lead transformation and growth initiatives that strengthen competitive positioning and accelerate business performance.
Shape portfolio and market choices
- Define product strategy, roadmaps and lifecycle plans, making clear choices on where Eaton should invest, accelerate, modernise, localise, expand, contain or stop.
- Identify market trends, customer needs and competitive opportunities, ensuring strong market visibility and effective positioning of the portfolio across EMEA.
Accelerate Life Safety growth
- Partner with regional sales leaders and country organisations to strengthen coverage in priority growth countries and achieve growth objectives.
- Drive new product development, localisation, digitalisation and innovation, including the launch and adoption of connected life-safety platforms.
- Expand regulatory-led services and digital solutions that increase lifecycle value, customer retention and recurring revenue.
Scale Distributed Power Infrastructure
- Accelerate single-phase UPS growth through channel and broader commercial reach, regionalising global product-line strategies for EMEA market and customer requirements.
- Leverage project synergies in Buildings and Data Centre segments by strengthening engagement with account teams.
- Deliver on the opportunity to scale the white-space portfolio.
Keep strategy connected to execution
- Provide strategic leadership to Engineering to support innovation, product development and customer requirements.
- Align Engineering with market needs, technology trends, regulatory requirements and product-roadmap priorities, fostering innovation and accelerating speed-to-market.
- Partner with Sales, Supply Chain and Quality to align commercial, engineering and operational priorities and support world-class operational performance and customer outcomes.
Build the organisation and lead transformation
- Build and lead a high-performing, internationally distributed leadership team and organisation, with clear accountability for business, portfolio and functional outcomes.
- Develop talent, succession, organisational capability and leadership effectiveness across the division.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation and customer focus.
- Lead organisational transformation and change management where required to improve execution and support the next phase of profitable growth.
Success will be reflected in profitable growth, stronger market positions, faster innovation, successful portfolio modernisation, increased recurring revenue, stronger organisational capability and disciplined execution through the matrix.
What you'll bring
- Broad general management experience with direct P&L accountability in a sizeable, complex and international business.
- Experience working across multiple product lines, countries or market channels in a large global organisation.
- Experience translating enterprise and regional priorities into end-to-end business, product-line and commercial strategy.
- Strong commercial and product-line orientation, with evidence of converting strategy into accelerated profitable growth.
- Experience leading product management, marketing, engineering and operations, and aligning sales, supply chain and quality through a matrix.
- Track record of portfolio transformation, new product introduction, digitalisation and innovation in highly regulated markets.
- Success influencing senior commercial, engineering, operational and functional leaders to align priorities and investment choices.
- Experience building and leading cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.
Preferred
- Direct experience in electrical, power management, lighting, fire, life safety, building technology or another regulated engineered-product environment.
Qualifications
- Significant general management and leadership experience, including direct P&L responsibility at $XXXm scale.
- Experience leading managers and geographically distributed cross-functional teams.
How you'll lead
Eaton’s Culture Model calls on leaders to Win Together, Think Big and Act Boldly. In this role, that means:
Win Together - Build trust and alignment across product lines, countries and functions. Bring product, commercial, engineering and operational priorities into a coherent direction, respecting matrix accountabilities while challenging local optimisation. Create constructive tension where growth ambition, investment, portfolio priorities and execution capacity do not align.
Think Big - Connect customer needs, market opportunity, regulation and technology across the full LSDPI portfolio. Identify where connected products, digital services, stronger channels and Eaton’s broader commercial reach can create meaningful customer and enterprise value. Balance long-term portfolio direction with near-term performance and customer commitments.
Act Boldly - Make explicit choices rather than producing broad strategic themes. Challenge incremental thinking, outdated technology, weak market coverage and unsupported investment logic. Surface difficult trade-offs and provide clear direction that enables teams to make decisive portfolio, product, market and investment choices.
All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process. All candidates will be evaluated based on job-related competencies, and all candidates’ privacy rights and data security will be protected in accordance with applicable laws.
We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for job applicants and employees. Our recruitment processes use balanced selection criteria and avoid unlawful discrimination against applicants on the basis of their age, colour, disability, marital status, national origin, gender, gender identity, genetic information, race or racial origin, religion, sexual orientation or any other status protected or required by law.
