Headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, our over 50,000 employees around the globe take on complex challenges to discover and deliver life-changing medicines, strengthen how health is understood and managed, and support the communities we serve. This is hard, urgent, selfless work—but it’s work worth doing. If you’re driven by purpose and ready to bring your best to work that truly matters for patients, we invite you to join us.

The Portfolio Strategy, Analytics, & Enablement Lead for Cardiometabolic Research (CMR) will play a critical role in shaping & implementing CMR’s long-term vision, and will drive high-impact initiatives that foster growth, innovation, and operational excellence. As a strategic leader with vision, this individual will develop and implement initiatives that align therapeutic areas & cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless execution of organizational priorities while anticipating and responding to industry trends.

Partnering closely with the CMR Lead Team (LT), they will own the portfolio fact base, regularly assess portfolio health, frame and run priority strategic projects, and support initiatives to improve communications, culture, and capabilities across CMR. This individual will also support efforts to communicate CMR portfolio status and progress across the broader organization, including to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio strategy

Lead portfolio-level strategy projects for CMR from the initial framing of the question through analysis, synthesis, and a recommendation to the Core Leadership Team. This includes assembling the working team, driving discussions, and delivering actionable outputs.

Develop & maintain an integrated view of the CMR portfolio across therapeutic pillars, covering development stage, therapeutic modality, target novelty, risk-reward profile, and resource load. Use this view to evaluate portfolio health & make recommendations on improvements. This assessment will characterize the portfolio’s risk / reward distribution and project its expected shape as new pillars mature.

Partner with therapeutic area leaders to keep program strategies and learning plans current, and surface cross-portfolio issues such as shared scientific risks, resourcing conflicts, and unexplored white space.

Support the long-range planning cycle by translating CMR strategic priorities into plans, metrics, and dashboards that the Core Leadership Team can manage against through the year.

Own the metrics and dashboards that track progress against CMR strategic objectives and establish them as the shared reference point in leadership discussions.

Track the external landscape relevant to cardiometabolic research, including competitive, scientific, and regulatory developments, and bring the implications into portfolio and planning discussions.

Organizational enablement

Support CMR's organizational communications, including monthly CMR updates to senior leadership, and development of content & execution of CMR-wide town halls in conjunction with therapeutic area leads.

Drive program management and change management for CMR-wide capability initiatives. One example is the Strategic Thinking program, which trains scientists to clarify program strategy, identify and prioritize key issues, and design experiments that resolve them.

Manage recurring organizational processes and campaigns, including the President's Award proposal process.
