Join Nationwide as a Senior Economic Crime Investigator and play a vital role in protecting our members from fraud, financial crime and emerging threats. Working within our specialist money mule prevention and investigation team, you’ll lead complex investigations, uncover suspicious activity and help safeguard vulnerable customers from financial harm. Every case is different, giving you the opportunity to make a real impact while helping to protect member trust and strengthen our response to economic crime.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced economic crime professional who enjoys solving complex problems and making informed decisions in high-risk situations. You’ll act as a key source of support and expertise for investigators across the team, taking ownership of escalations, allocating work, coaching colleagues and promoting best practice. Alongside investigating sophisticated money mule and fraud cases, you’ll use your judgement, attention to detail and customer-focused approach to deliver fair, well-reasoned outcomes that balance member protection with regulatory and legal requirements.
If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, are confident handling challenging investigations and want to use your expertise to make a meaningful difference, this role offers the chance to develop others, influence decision-making and contribute to a safer financial future for our members.
You will work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, covering operational hours between 8am and 8pm on a four-week rotating shift pattern. Shifts are 8:00–16:00, 9:00–17:00, 10:00–18:00 and 12:00–20:00. You will also be required to work one in four weekends between 8am and 8pm, with time off in lieu provided for weekend working.
This is a 18-month secondment opportunity.

If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works.
Nationwide is committed to the redeployment of our employees impacted by change, as such applications for redeployment candidates will be prioritised in this recruitment process.

What you’ll be doing

Beyond your own investigations, you’ll be a trusted subject matter expert, supporting colleagues through coaching, guidance and quality assurance feedback to help build confidence and capability across the team. Working closely with the Team Manager and partnering with teams across the wider Group, you’ll share your expertise, influence best practice and contribute to strengthening Nationwide’s approach to tackling economic crime. This is an opportunity to combine specialist investigation work, problem-solving and leadership, making a meaningful impact while helping others develop and succeed.
