About Us
At Edinburgh Innovations (EI), our culture is built on three core values: Collaborative, Progressive and Innovative. We believe the best results come from working together, sharing ideas, and supporting one another. We’re always looking forward, embracing change, challenging assumptions, and pushing boundaries to grow.Innovation is at the heart of what we do, encouraging creativity and fresh thinking at every level of the business.
Interface’s vision is to help unlock and accelerate the full potential of Scotland’s innovation ecosystem by fostering strong, collaborative partnerships between academia and industry that drive sustained growth and global competitiveness.
Interface has been at the heart of Scotland’s innovation ecosystem since 2005, bridging the gap between businesses—particularly SMEs—and academic expertise to drive inclusive, regionally balanced growth. We play a key role in ensuring businesses of all sizes and from all parts of Scotland can access world-class academic resources to innovate and thrive.
But our work is not just about access; it’s about capacity and collaboration. That’s why we support both sides of the innovation partnership—helping businesses solve real-world challenges while equipping academic institutions to engage confidently and effectively with industry. Through this dual focus, we help drive innovation, accelerate research impact, and strengthen regional economies.
Interface is a national programme and a core part of Scotland’s Innovation Infrastructure. Hosted by Edinburgh Innovations Ltd (University of Edinburgh), we benefit from a stable operational base while operating impartially across the entire academic landscape. We are well-connected and embedded in the wider innovation ecosystem—working closely with colleges, universities, enterprise agencies, funders, innovation centres, and industry partners. Collaboration is central to everything we do.
