Why join us
This is a brilliant opportunity to take the lead on two important areas of our digital marketing: Paid Search and Affiliates. You’ll have the freedom to shape our strategy, explore new opportunities and make smart decisions about where and how we invest. With a significant media budget and an experienced in-house team behind you, you’ll use data, technology, creativity and customer insight to keep improving our performance across Sainsbury’s, Nectar and Tu Clothing.
It’s a role with plenty of variety and visibility. You’ll work with teams across Marketing, Analytics and Technology, alongside agencies, Google and affiliate partners, giving you the opportunity to influence how we evolve our digital marketing capabilities and deliver genuine commercial impact.
What you'll do
You’ll set the strategic direction for Paid Search and Affiliate Marketing, making sure our investment delivers against our customer and commercial goals. You’ll own and manage significant budgets, using data and measurement to understand what’s working, where we can improve and where the next opportunity lies. Across Paid Search, you’ll help us make smarter use of first-party data, automation and machine learning, while evolving areas such as incrementality testing and marketing measurement.
For Affiliates, you’ll develop the strategy and marketing plan, build strong relationships with our key partners and agencies, and make sure our activity continues to drive incremental customers and sales. You’ll also look at how our technology, platforms, creative approach and measurement can evolve to deliver even better results.
People leadership is a big part of this role too. You’ll lead and develop our in-house Paid Search and Affiliate experts, creating an environment where the team can grow their expertise, challenge thinking and continuously improve how we work.
Who you are
You’re an experienced digital marketing leader with strong hands-on Paid Search/PPC expertise, alongside experience or knowledge of Affiliate Marketing. You know how to get the best from performance marketing and love finding ways to make it work harder.
Commercially minded and comfortable with data, you can look beyond headline performance to understand incrementality, profitability and customer value. You’re confident managing significant budgets and making informed investment decisions, while being equally comfortable getting into the detail of campaign performance, technology and measurement.
You’re also a natural collaborator. You know how to build strong relationships with agencies, media and affiliate partners and teams across the business, bringing people with you while keeping things moving at pace. And as a people leader, you’ll enjoy coaching and developing others while building a team with brilliant digital expertise.
Essential criteria
Hands-on digital marketing experience, with strong Paid Search/PPC expertise essential. Affiliate Marketing experience is desirable.
Experience working with media or affiliate agencies to deliver targeted marketing activity.
Experience making investment decisions that improve efficiency and performance across channels.
Proven experience managing significant media budgets.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing effective in-house media teams.
