Head of Compliance & ESG

We’re seeking a Head of Compliance & ESG to join our team based in Alexandria. As Head of Compliance & ESG, you will play a critical role in protecting and strengthening dusk’s product, supplier and business standards. Leading our compliance, product quality assurance, ethical sourcing and sustainability functions, you'll ensure the business meets its regulatory obligations while driving continuous improvement across our products and supply chain.

Working closely with the Executive Team and cross-functional departments, you'll develop and deliver strategies that support responsible business practices, product excellence and long-term sustainability. What You'll Do Develop and oversee dusk’s compliance framework, policies, procedures and risk management strategies, ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory requirements Lead regulatory compliance across the business, including Australian Consumer Law, AICIS, EESS, Modern Slavery and Australian Packaging Covenant obligations Establish and maintain product safety and quality assurance standards, including product testing, inspections, labelling and compliance approvals Oversee product complaints, safety incidents, breaches, corrective actions and product recall readiness Lead supplier compliance and ethical sourcing frameworks, including supplier approvals, factory audits, certifications and risk assessments Drive supply chain due diligence initiatives relating to modern slavery, human rights and responsible sourcing Develop and deliver dusk’s ESG and sustainability strategy, establishing clear goals, targets and reporting processes Partner with Buying, Product Creative, Supply Chain and suppliers to improve product quality, packaging, materials and sustainability practices Oversee regulatory reporting, registrations and submissions, ensuring all requirements and deadlines are met Manage relationships with external consultants, legal advisers, testing laboratories, auditors and regulatory bodies Provide expert compliance guidance across the business, ensuring teams understand and meet their legal and regulatory obligations Lead, mentor and develop the Compliance Manager and Sourcing Coordinator, building a proactive and accountable team Report on compliance, product quality, supplier performance and ESG progress to the Executive Team Identify opportunities to strengthen governance, improve processes and reduce environmental impact across the business About You 8+ years' experience in a senior compliance, product safety, quality assurance, ESG or risk management role, ideally within retail, consumer goods or manufacturing Strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Law, product safety regulations, chemical and packaging compliance and modern slavery reporting requirements Proven experience developing and implementing compliance frameworks, risk management strategies and quality assurance processes Demonstrated experience managing supplier compliance, ethical sourcing programs and overseas factory audits Technical understanding of product materials, formulations and manufacturing processes Experience developing and delivering sustainability or ESG strategies Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor and develop high-performing teams Excellent commercial acumen, judgement and the confidence to make decisions that balance business needs with regulatory obligations Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the business Highly organised, proactive and solutions-focused, with excellent attention to detail Tertiary qualification in Compliance, Law, Science, Engineering, Risk, Sustainability or a related discipline (desirable) Willingness to travel interstate and internationally, including factory visits and supplier audits as required What You'll Love Generous employee discounts!
